I first saw the Body Mechanics store when I was on my way to Kirribili markets one day. They advertised on the window as being specialists in cycling, running and triathlon injury prevention and rehabilitation. Brilliant I thought. Physios had served me ok over the years but they’d never been able to pin point the cause or fully fix my knee, hip and ankle injuries. I think when you have injuries or even just niggling pains caused by repetitive motion or stress to a particular part of your body it’s really good to get it check out by a person who knows that particular part of your body well in relation to the possible causes of it. That is… a stiff neck caused by too much time at a computer — go to a work place specific physio/rehabilitation person. Injuries or ailments caused by training for a marathon — go to the Body Mechanics. So what do they do specifically? * Running gait assessment * Biomechanical and injury assessment * Bike fit service — that is, setting up your bike so that it is not only comfortable but geared(pardon the pun) towards injury prevention. * Physiotherapy with relation to sports mentioned above Competitors and race fanatics themselves they know their stuff.
