Pretty cool place. Went in for a beer on a tuesday night. Feels a little shady when you walk up the stairs at the entrance, but it turns out to be anything but shady. There was a couple of guys playing electro music live this night, and the sound was a bit to high to be able to talk normal. The music would’ve been great as background live music, and that makes it a star less.

I love the beer selection — a tad bit too noisy for a conversation but I appreciate the fact that it’s open later than usual on a Thursday night. The friendly non-harassing bouncer was a plus too.

If you’re into the grungy warehouse type place with nice drinks, a really bizarre mix of people and lots of plants then you’ll love this place. The vibe of this place is a lot different to most of the other bars around the city. There will be some people with electric blue hair in latex body suits and spiked collars in one corner and guys with pink button downs and polished leather shoes right next to them. Great for people watching, music at night is a little too loud to carry on a non-shouting conversation well, but regardless it’s a good atmosphere. Drinks are nice, I highly recommend all of the cocktails(yes I’ve tried them all).

This place is one weird joint. Pizza was tasty but a bit on the small side. Beer was cold. We sat in the outside rooftop style beer garden. This is where the weirdness began. Some freaked out goth chick reckons we had her pizza delivered to our table. This wouldn’t normally be a problem but looking around this bar, I reckon the clientele would be pretty typical of what you would find most times. The place is a freak show so if you like«people watching» you could kill an hour at this place. You won’t forget it quickly. Have something else planned because you’ll find it hard to stay for an hour, unless you’re the girl in the corner with blue hair, a bolt through her nose, tatts on her neck sipping on some weird vegan celery concoction. She seemed to fit right in.

Sitting outside on the deck feels like drinking in a treehouse. There’s an open roof, windows on all sides, wood benches and lots of greenery. For me, Workshop’s been a good spot for a mid-week drink and a catch-up with friends. It also has a bit of a student vibe. The music is usually a bit loud, but at least you don’t have to worry about others hearing your conversation! The taps are basically non-existent, but they do stock some bottles of craft beer in the fridge. The casual atmosphere makes it a good spot to enjoy a chat and a few beverages.

Stumbled here after Victorian markets. Pretty cool place. It is a bit loud if you want to actually have a conversation with your friends. Pretty funky and urban. Kinda like it except for the PDA happening inside haha by reading the other reviews after I’ve been there it does seem like a very student hang out. Lots of younger crowd but all in all not a bad place. A pretty cool discovery.

This is a cool bar above the shops in Elizabeth Street. Aimed at students, it has comfy old couches and odd funky tables. There is s semi enclosed area for smokers. We didn’t eat here, but they have a small snack menu with Pizzas, sandwiches and salads. The aromas coming from the kitchen were very nice. Worth a second visit. My espresso martini was first class.

This place is a Melbourne classic with the entrance looking as if your walking into an abandon building. Lay out is my favourite part there is an out door area that feels like your inside but is roofless and the inside lay out is very much a lounge feel with a cool set up. There is also YUMMY decent size 6 dollar pizzas!!! The bar is deff lacking tap beer there is only one option. Cider as well only the one option but this is a gooood cider. Great place for after work drinks or pre drinks for a night out. I do not recommend this for a nice out on the dance floor. If your into DJS this place has you covered.

Friends have had several Contiki reunions here when out of Melbourne-rs come to visit. Came here for drinks with a few friends one evening. Tucked upstairs off Elizabeth street– they have both cool indoor and outdoors options for seating. Glad we got to see it. Fan of the use of wrought iron and industrial design of the place. Decent bar– got a jug of tap beer as well as vodka lemonade and G&T’s amongst our group. We got some time in the half open rooftop sundeck where it was packed and busy with lots of other people around. They had timber seating as well as stools available but smokers so turned inside. We sat at the round half-circle couch(with table) near the front stairs and bathrooms. Cool because there were high walls around it for some privacy. Great place for evening night out, definitely go see it

On an odd entranceway but definitely hit it up on the Sunday arvo. Great outdoor semi covered area with moon dog double lager. Brooklyn brewery’s bottles and free BBQ. Amazing playlist(bonobo), and Dnb gigs too as well as 7 buck pizzas.

Very relaxing bar to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon. I knew Workshop from my walks to Vic Market. I’d spy it on the first floor. A weird enclosed outdoor area that is overflowing with plants and other foliage. I never really investigated, but when I finally got taken to Workshop. Ah-ha. This is the place. The drinks list isn’t massive, but it’s decent. They have some interesting variation in there. I went recently and they had a dozen or so kiwi beers, which mixed it up a little. The outdoor deck is the main attraction. You can sit out in a semi-covered, rustic, industrial, patio thing. Does that make sense? Probably not, but it’ll make sense when you visit…

Look, any place that I can walk up stairs and get a jug of beer handed to be as I walk in I’m going to be really happy with. Neat little set up inside. Lots of big tables and benches so if you’ve got a decent group of mates you’re set. The drink prices are great and it’s a really decent atmosphere of people in there. Outside deck for the smokers and it’s really nice to be just hanging outside drinking with friends. So do yourself a favour a grab a bunch of friends and go throw back a few jugs.

Wander up the stairs and cut through the sexual tension with a knife — we’re going to Workshop! A great place to meet if you are situated in the market-end of the CBD, Workshop seems to cater for a larger variety of types than most bars in the area. Whether you’re a student, a suit or a struggling artist — you’ll fit in fine at Workshop. The smoking area on the balcony is great if you can get a seat, as the inside bar can get quite loud. Bar staff are very no-nonsense and efficient and the music selection is usually the right mix of moody dubstep or hip hop that compliments the grungy warehouse space nicely. Students should also heed the $ 2.50 pot happy hour between 4pm and 7pm, although I’m not sure what days this is restricted to.

I came here for my 18th birthday, 19th, 20th, and 22nd. My 21st was functioned. Musically, I could not think of a more impressive bar. They play soul, funk, hiphop, and dub-step. But not the shit kind of dub-step. The staff are really kind. They have some incredible patience. I’ve watched countless times people take forever to order a drink from their huge selection, and they’re pretty good to shrug it off. Bouncers can be polite depending on who’s on for the night. Great place to take a girl on a date. The artwork on the wall(which they sell) is sublime, and changes every time I’m their. I would say I’ve been here over 100 times.

Workshop bar, Is eponymously named after a work shop. Off Elizabeth street, on A’Becceket, head trough the roller door and up the stairs. Into this converted space, which has glass ceiling/open seating area overlooking Elizabeth street. Chipped into the wide bar is a little DJ booth, and there are couches scattered about the floor. The long bar makes the crowd disperse a little when ordering drinks. The pizza, wherever it comes from is grand. It’s not really trying to be anythingexcept the occasional night when the queue is super long. That said, one can come here just to hang out and not worry about being in the wrong scene.

Love this place! Workshop is a bar you can go to for after work drinks, a big Saturday night out, or a Sunday arvo drink. Always a good mix of corporate, casual and those who you may need to pretend you don’t speak English so you can avoid talking to. Central location, but up a flight or stairs(no elevator) which helps to keep the«riff raff»(as my mother would say). Great place to catch up with mates!

I always forget about Workshop, which is probably what makes is a great bar. Not that I only go there on occasion, but that it isn’t on the list of Melbourne’s top trendy bars so when you do go there it isn’t packed out. But it is an awesome bar. Find the hidden entrance on A’Beckett St just off Elizabeth St and go up the narrow staircase to the light, open bar with street art on the walls. I love the atmosphere here: casual and a bit grungy, but airy and clean with a small balcony spotted with plants. The crowd is casual too — not über hip — which makes for a relaxed vibe. Music is on the beats/hip-hop side of things but isn’t intrusive and it suits the place. Usually I’d grab a bottle of Coopers and sit out on the balcony stools — makes for a pretty ace afternoon!

Workshop used to be my local for Saturday arvo drinks, and that was a happy time for me. All the young-uns I worked with at the time would clock off at 4pm and we’d head down to Workshop for a casual sip or three of some ciders as the day set into night, at which time we would part our separate ways. It’s a beauty of a place to chill out, particularly for smokers who have the expanse of an entire deck to blacken their lungs. The outside area is the best area to sit, so non-smokers will have to share. What I love about this place is you could potentially start or end your night here. It’s always busy, always vibin’ and the drinks are pretty cheap.

Workshop is one of my favourite bars in the city! It’s a cool place that ticks all the boxes. Good Music. Awesome Outdoor Area. Good Beers On Tap. Relaxed Vibe. Easy Going Crowd. Ferns. It’s the real deal this place. It’s the bar I go to when I want to be assured a good night out where if it’s really going off there is a chance you could dance till the early hours of the morning.
