As you would imagine from a high tech Top 20 telecommunications company, the Telstra 242(street number) Conference Centre has all the bells and whistles one would expect. Entering through main foyer, you are greeted by massive tv screens mounted on both walls playing Sky News. Not missing a moment to market, you pass a promotions table of telstra bundle marketing material, before coming face to face with the city’s most impressive reception desk: a huge green wall stands behind the marble desk, with ferns and plants cascading down its face. It makes a nice contrast with the otherwise high tech, corporate atmosphere of the building. This is a HQ meant to impress. A quick veer to the left and you head up the escalators to the conference centre. There doesn’t appear to be heaps of space devoted to mingling outside the rooms; clearly it is all business when you attend an event here. The main theatre is a two storey high, wood panelled room with comfortable seating. The sound system seemed a little low but that could have been the Speaker. All in all, it seems a pretty good set up if you are thinking of running some sort of corporate event or training session.
