Lonely location at the top of bourke st means this sushi bar can be overlooked. However, the quality of fish here is always top notch. Staff are sensible and friendly. Lunch deals are good value too w a soup and salad included. It’s open at night too but I haven’t been.

Great for a quick lunch with dishes coming with miso, salad and green tea included.
Staff are lovely and welcoming and the inside feels like being back in Japan! I usually get sucked into ordering the Tofu Don as it’s hard to go past delicious silken tofu with pickled ginger and sukiyaki sauce, particularly in winter :)
Sushi and sashimi are also pretty great and made to order by the teeny sushi chef behind the counter.

LOVE the sashimi at this little restaurant, especially the tuna… just melts in your mouth! Always excellent quality. If you sit at the bar, you can watch it prepared by the chefs.
They also have a wonderful potato salad which I never fail to have as an appetizer.
The place is small and intimate and never too noisy.
Only downside in my opinion is they have I believe a $ 30 minimum on a card. As someone who rarely carries cash, I go there less often than I otherwise would for this reason.
Thoroughly recommend it for the quality of the food.

Just had the Sushi Bento Box for $ 19.95. All items in the box — salmon, tuna sashima, terriyaki chicken, tempura prawn, tempura vegies were all high standard — served hot and the lettuce and other salad items were fresh and crispy. A very honest meal. We BYO’d a bottle of rice wine from Dan Murphy’s and had a very fine lunch ($ 2 corkage each). We sat at the window and there is something about being at the Paris end of Bourke st that lifts your spirits. We were by the window so had light and the view but the rest of the place is a little dark for my liking. We will be back
