Great kimchi pancakes and bibimbap, and it comes in a hot pot like it should. Five stars.

By day, it’s known as Secret Lane Café. But after 3pm, the small coffee shopfront transforms into Subi Q, an unassuming but tasty little Korean gem. Our neighbor took us to Subi Q for a catchup over bibimbap and beer, and we were not disappointed. The beef was tender and gingery, searing away in its clay pot with rice, crispy vegetables and a silky, oozing egg yolk on top. Tossed with the signature sweet-spicy sauce, we were in comfort food heaven. The space is narrow but cozy and natural, with smooth timber tables and stone-adorned walls, plus a relaxing(surprisingly unkitsch) water feature. You won’t find burners at the table, and the menu is somewhat limited. It may not be a travel-across-towner, but the homestyle Korean fare will keep us strolling back for midweek meals.

A nice little Korean joint, opposite the Prahran Police station. Had a Groupon for here so thought I’d give it a try. We had a few course: * Vegetable Gyoza and Prawn Gyoza * Sticky glazed beef BBQ with a salad and Kimchi and Pickled Onion * Beef BIMBIMBAP(W00T!) * Teriyaki Chicken * Green Tea Ice cream … and am absolutely stuffed whilst writing this. A good sign. Staff were prompt and friendly(I was also able to book via email which was a novel touch :)), food was good — not a Bulgogi Korean BBQ kind of place instead just decent, honest Korean food. (Oh, you can BYO if you want, too)
