Mmmm… beers during summer along the river!
Very relaxed but buzzing atmosphere… good to while away a few hours in the afternoon
Had some chips, seems like they had put fresh (rather than cooked) garlic in the aioli, was very strong

Great toasties (more like gourmet sandwiches if you ask me)
Staff not particularly engaging but not rude either.
Nice selection of beer and of course location is cool also.

Can be chilly sat here or fab for shade, but thats not really their fault.
So it is a great place for watching the river go by, little bit on the spenny’ side but food is good, although if I was to say cauliflower fritter can you picture the floret delicately battered… well scrap that its like a dumpling and so salty eew… the staff are really friendly and efficient, however I do think they could take your food order at the table at least, as if its busy there can be a large queues at the kiosk where you have to order food, same place as just drink orders being taken. so star off for that glaring issue,

Great afternoon to evening drinking spot with mates!
Beautiful location right on the Yarra River edge to take in the city lights of Melbourne. My tip be there for the Moomba festival fireworks display!
Staff are friendly and is food is available at standard prices. Definitely a place to check out!

Wish Unilocal had negative stars arrived at Riverland for a coffee no one here waitress standing on deck says have to order at the bar what a joke! Ever thought of thinking outside the box! 5 staff and can’t serve you a coffee at the table! They are kidding themselves owners must not have travelled overseas where service is service!

Great location on the river bank to enjoy a meal and a drink. Small but tasty menu. Service is fun. A pleasant spot to sit relax and enjoy good food and company. The food is prepared to perfection. Get Down here and enjoy this venue and be pleasantly surprised.

If overpriced drinks are your thing, Riverland is great. Lovely venue, perfectly situated on the Yarra — though I guess they have to pay the rent somehow. It is, however, beautiful on a hot and sunny afternoon, and a great place to rug up by the river in winter. Their beer menu isn’t the longest, but the view and location tend to make up for this.
If you’re looking for a place to meet friends for a couple of after-​work beers, or before a big night out, go for it. Hell, if your pockets are deep enough, stay there all night.

The coffee was good, the drinks a bit pricey and the food was tasty too.
They had a big screen with tennis matches on so that drawn people to stop by.

On a stunning day, Riverland is the perfect place to visit for a sneaky drink while watching Melbourne ride, paddle and walk past.
Prices are a little on the more expensive side for the standard beer/​wine but the view and the setting can’t really be beaten.
You’ve got to be super early on work nights to find a table and have a keen eye on the weekend to snap up a table.

I have been to Riverland for many a nights for drinks and general partying but never realized that they did any other sort of food, other than the BBQ sausages that you can smell from a mile off. So when a friend suggested that we go there for breakfast. So Riverland, during the day, for brunch not beers… I was not sure what to expect…
Pros
* The coffee was really quite good (yes, it is true, I was shocked)
* The view, the Yarra does look good in the morning sun
* The food was really quite good! We were all really delighted with what we got and all wanted to order more!
Cons
* No table service — I knew this going in but the dance of saving table, ordering food from the bar is not what you expect for breakfast
* I wish they turned that BBQ off! The smell of sausages almost dove me to have sausages for breakfast
Needless to say, whilst we still have nice weather, I will be down here for breakfast/​brunch again!

This has been established for some time now, and on a summer’s
day it’s a great place to sit and watch over the river and how life goes on,
and all the passers by within it.
Riverland is not exactly what I have envisaged for my 100^th review, but
alas I did not have the funds for something special and awesome.
It’s contained within some of the original vaults of the Flinders Street
«North-​Bank» heritage railway viaducts. Riverland while ostensibly modern
still retains it’s innate heritage and charm. All day long barbeque’s, and
sausage sizzles are key in summer, and there’s normally some sort of ace
outdoors food thing going on. When the whether is fine. I think the first time
I was here was in 2006, and I’ve been back a few times.
Riverland has its own little lift for easy access. If you’re entering from
Princess Bridge, But the walk ain’t hard so there’s not much need for this.
I’m speculative about the inside space; there doesn’t seem much but I’ve
never needed to venture in. Despite the fact that it looks somewhere I want
to go. Drinks are ordered from a booth/​open window style arrangement and
this is pretty cool. A walk up bar no less.
Most people are here to have a good time, and chill out, and thankfully there’s
not the seemingly endless onslaught of douche-bag’s that you might find
regularly populating Chapel street. I’m sure it’s still radtastic in winter,
but in the warmer months it’s a like an all day BBQ at your mate’s place.
Ace!

I have been to Riverland a few times. I find its a great meeting place in the city with excellent views of the beautiful Yarra River. The atmosphere is great as its mostly always busy & the food is always great too. Today we had grilled procuitto wrapped cutlets with truffle patè — devine, so good! The twice cooked caramel pork belly — delicious although it had a ‘toffee’ sauce which occasionally got stuck to the roof of my mouth — my only fault. The peking duck & shitaki mushroom arancini which had a mouth watering plum sauce, I recommend this dish as I definitely wanted more! Also the grilled cypriot halloumi with olives and cherry tomatoes was a nice side too. Weather you go to Riverland just for a few ales or a meal I do recommend people to give it a try, its in such a great Melbourne CBD location. You can’t go wrong really :)

Yes It is true. Riverland is in a fantastic location ‘under’ Federation Square by the Yarra in Melbourne.
Head down the stairs near Transport in Fed Square, it is not signposted, so if you don’t know it’s there… well you don’t know it’s there. See the elevator? Yes, it’s the stairs right next to it.
The location and venue are fantastic… if I was a visitor to Melbourne I would live here. FACT.
Problem is though I’m not. While a Sunday session by the Yarra is enchanting, the stingy potions of food and expensive drinks keep locals away… so if you’re up for a $ 12 for a pint of cider then yes Riverland is great, but for a more local friendly vibe, head elsewhere!
Bring your tourist friends, it’s a great sunny afternoon out! Hot tip: the smell form the BBQ will make you hungry.
Riverland I love you, but my wallet… not so much.

This bar is built into the vaults of the wall beside the Yarra River. It’s got a great location, looking out as people row up and down the river. There’s lots of outdoor spots, and plenty of indoor places to sit. There are three bar serving windows that face onto the path in front of the river, so if you’re drinking outside you don’t even need to go inside to get your order.
It is a bit pricey, though. And the outdoor seating fills up pretty quickly.

Bangers. Beers. Bucks. (no, not the buck’s nights type of bucks).
Snags. Drinkies. Dollars.
So… yeah while it’s a great place to sit out in the sun and have a sausage on bun and a few beers, it is a little exxy — so be prepared if you decide to venture down. There’s an ATM inside :)
Sausages. Brewskis. Dinar.
Wieners. Bier. Euros.
Meat logs, Yeast water, Coinage.
I could do this all day.

You know those beautiful Sunday afternoons, where it’s not quite summer yet, but the sun is shining and it’s warm enough to venture out in less than a ski jacket and gloves? You know, every Sunday from September until March?
But seriously, this place is made for those Sundays!
You get: views of the river (with enough champagne it looks ‘clean’), views of the gardens so you think you’re actually in them, seats so you don’t actually have to sit IN the park, heaters for when it is a bit too cold for that sheer sweater you’re rocking, and a roof to protect your perfect hair.
Riverland is a lovely, outdoor bar/​café, one level below the street to get away from the chaos. Prices are quite reasonable, and you can grab draft beers, bottles of champagne, little noshes and even a hotdog when they fire up the grill.
Heaven on earth for those Sundays that are all too much of a reality around here!

Located on my favourite bike path in Melbourne, the Main Yarra Trail, the other day it was beautiful weather and I set out on the ride to Riverland in the need of the best gourmet organic hotdog in town. I could tell that I was getting close as the intoxicating smell of the barbecue started to make me salivate. I put my bike down and followed my nose to where the smell was coming from only to be stopped in my tracks as I saw a display cabinet filled with the Argentinian delight that is the empanada. It looked a little big to be a real empanada but whilst reminiscing about how good they were in Argentina I had to have one. It wasn’t the same. I should have stuck to what I know Australians do best… barbecue!
Riverland is the perfect place to get the real Victorian experience of sitting by a river eating a barbecue and having a beer. It doesn’t get better than that.

Did someone say river views? For sure, Riverland is situated right on the river. And they sell a range of freshly barbequed bangers, can it get any better? Well the answer is actually yes.
Don’t get me wrong Riverland is a great place, especially for a warm summer’s day or evening, where you can hear the light wash of the river heading its merry way towards the sea. But the fact is that this place is super expensive. Unless you are prepared to pay $ 12 a pint for a very average beer or $ 15 a pint for a slightly better than average Asahi beer — then you are probably better off heading under the bridge situated near-​by to drink goon with the street bums. After all the river views are just as spectacular here — and there is ample shade!

There aren’t many great bars along the Yarra River. Southbank is filled with upscale and touristy restaurants with pricey menus, particularly as you get closer to Crown Casino. Riverland is anything but upscale and expensive (maybe touristy?) in an awesome kind of way.
Right below Transport, Riverland occupies a great location with a view of the Yarra River (the Yarra isn’t the most beautiful river, but still a view nonetheless). With most of the venue outdoors and plenty of large communal picnic tables, it is the perfect summer location. The inside of Riverland is set into the pedestrian walkway above and has a beautiful stone façade that adds a bit of elegance to this otherwise outdoor venue.
To add to the summer festivities, Riverland turns on its outside bbq and grills some mean organic sausages. For $ 8, you can have a duck and pistachio sausage, a lamb and herbs sausage, or a chilli bratwurst. Fancy eating. Grab a Bulmers Cider ($ 12) or Two Brothers Pear Cider ($ 8.50) and enjoy the sun!

If your interstate friends were visiting Melbourne for the weekend, where would you take them? Don’t you dare say Transport! Just walk a few more metres towards the water and you’ll find yourself at Riverland. A place that is sure to impress your touristy friends!

Riverside drinkin’? TICK
Yep, it’s just as sexy as it sounds. But be warned, a lot of other people know it’s sexy too so prepare yourself to wait a while for a cosy table, this place gets packed!
