N’s satay bar is a modern representation of an Indonesian franchise favourite Es Teler 77. The restaurant is cash only, and there is a sisha rooftop bar upstairs(which is uncommon for an Indonesian restaurant but seems to attract backpackers) There are also a couple of outdoor seating if it’s a nice day on the busy strip of Russell st. The good thing is that this restaurant is cheap and tasty, and serves unpretentious fast Indonesian fare like Ayam goreng, Nasi Goreng, Kwe tiaw. You can find variations in chilli sauces like most good Indonesian restaurants, and theirs is hard to beat in taste and chilli factor. It’s not an Indonesian restaurant if there is no servings of various ice drinks like Es cendol or es teler, they are tasty and servings size are on the good size. If you think that N’s satay bar serves a variety of satay dishes, you are not alone but unfortunately there is only the one dish of satay on offer with three variations chicken, lamb or beef. When I visited, the satay chicken was not ready for another 1 – 2 hours. This is a bit of a letdown for a restaurant called satay bar. despite this though, other dishes were tasty and good in size. the chillis are served spicy and the drinks /desserts are super sweet. Just how the Indonesians like it.
