I love the service at this Mimco and I have been to many! The girl who served me was extremely helpful and encouraged me to try on lots of different things and gave me lots of feedback — I realise this sounds like her job, which is but it certainly doesn’t happen at all Mimco stores! I rate the service 5⁄5!!!

A few years ago anyone who was anyone was carrying Mimco silk sling bags. A few years after that it was the Mimco button bag. This is the sort of place that will come out with one overhyped item each season that every 16 year-old private schooler in town will be desperate to get their hands on. Subsequently I’m not a huge fan. They do make some nice jewellery, but it is extremely overpriced. I’d be ok with this if it was worth it, but honestly it just isn’t.

Mimco is identifiably Aussie that I feel unpatriotic giving it a poor review. It’s also an incredibly slick — accessories — operation selling a range of bags, jewellery, sunglasses, hair accessories, watches and shoes from it glossy little shops all over Melbourne. I can never resist a browse around one of Mimco’s boutiques, despite the fact that its aesthetic is decidedly NOT my style. Think pearl, diamanté and chain chokers, think wallets and bags with Mimco’s name written ALL over them. This is not stealth fashion. This particular outpost of the Mimco brand is extremely well executed with a great range of the brand’s wares. Its sunglasses are particularly notable, in shapes ranging from fifties cateye to 80s visor and much more in between. Nice but not for me.
