History

Established in 2000.

MessageMedia was founded in 2000 when our founders had an idea of how businesses could utilise text messaging. They developed a prototype of the technology, which included front-​end software and an SMS gateway. They registered the company, rented an office and started marketing the solution to businesses in April 2001.

The company was started with credit card debt and staffed by uni students as they couldn’t afford full time staff. In May 2002, MessageMedia secured angel investors and commenced hiring the team.
