Men In Action

I attended a Men In Action show called ‘Magic Night’ at Red Bennies on a Sunday night. It’s a boy-​lesque/​strip style show inspired by the film Magic Mike.
Unfortunately, the venue seemed to be at odds with the production delivering a show that was enjoyable for the audience from beginning to end.
The guys were attractive and well defined (if a bit homogenized). And they had clearly spent many hours working out. Beyond their looks, it was immediately apparent that there was a range of experience with the performers on stage.
The performers brought a lot of women up from the audience (as well as a few guys in attendance too) to give them lap dances, etc as part of the show. I was delighted to be selected as one of the ‘audience participants’ and it was cool that they also used guys from the audience. Tip for the ladies: wear pants! I think I saw as much (unintentional) lady butt as I did of the guys who were intentionally taking their clothes off that night.
Some of the guys had solo routines which were fun and well-​choreographed. And of course certain costumes that you would expect were featured during the night such as doctor and construction worker. The guys don’t do full frontal, but we did get to see almost everything else.
Unfortunately, Red Bennies seems to force every production in their space to have two lengthy intermissions. I’m sure this policy is to try and get people to buy more (overpriced) drinks at the bar. But for the Magic Night show, the intermissions felt painfully long and drug down the energy of the entire show. So the MC and guys had to work to get the momentum running for the show again after each intermission. This also led to it being a very long night. The doors opened at 7pm, the show didn’t get started until after 8pm and by the time we got out of the venue it was close to 1am on a Sunday night and we had all missed our last trams. If the entire night was spent ogling ripped guys performing on stage, then I would say that was 4 – 5 hours well spent. Unfortunately, much of that time was taken up by the intermissions, MC banter, etc. Also, there are not enough seats in the venue and a lot of us were left to stand, which frankly gets old after 4 – 5 hours and takes some of the fun out of the show too.
My friend had discount tickets she shared with us for the show. The experience I got for the half-​price ticket was enjoyable and worth my time and money. However, if I had paid full price and had the same experience at Red Bennies, I would not be as pleased.
Men in Action has some great looking guys, some of whom are also talented performers. I’d like to get a chance to check them out again in a different venue.
