Local Organics is an alternative food system created to give us all access to ethical food, farms and information. Eating seasonal local organic food is tasty and nutritious, and it helps us reconnect to nature’s rhythms and our own sense of place. Investing in a fair and fun local food system is a powerful way to create positive economic and social change.

An easy way to get involved with this inclusive food system is to try a seasonal mixed box or purchase individual produce items to your taste. We are proud to be working with Open Food Foundation as a pilot project for open-​source software developed to make access to ethic food easier.

History

Established in 2010.

Local Organics aims to be an affordable, transparent and ethical place for us all to access good local seasonal foods, farms, information and community. In 2009 we visited a friend in the country and ate food sourced from her own or neighboring properties. We’d bite into an apple and say «this is how an apple should taste!». We were converted and a little obsessed with finding the same quality produce in Melbourne. Buying organic alone didn’t hit the spot and we soon realised the secret was seasonal locally grown food.
