I was taken here by a Korean food fan, and was surprised that it was a chicken and beer bar(duh Dez the name should have given it away). If chicken wings(of various flavour) and beer is your idea of a good time, this place is for you. I tried the fried dumplings, don’t recommend them, stick to the chicken and if it’s your first time, try the popular flavour, it’s popular for a reason.

Between two of us, we ordered a whole chicken with 2 sauce, sweet chilli and spicy. The spicy was too spicy for me to enjoy so I stick to the sweet chilli. Don’t expect any great service, the wait staff don’t really talk to you, but chicken was good.

While chicken w soy garlic n chili sauce was delish! Would go back again and again. I recommend the dinner menu over the lunch menu as the chicken was nice and juicy!

PROS Soy garlic sauce was incredible Gami chicken ribs had a nice flavour Kimchi pancake was soft and not overpowerful Nice, modern industrial look CONS Need more waitress working Gami Boneless chicken can get dry, tasteless and ‘boring’ after a while Korean fried chicken is always pricey but it is up to you are they worth it or not

Was it the best chicken I’ve had? Nope. Certainly rocks against kfc like the other reviews said. But you know what — when a menu says they chop the bird into 18 pieces and let you douse the thing in two sauces, well you’ve pretty much got me there. Love the atmosphere, great unfiltered beer, basically a place anyone with any sense of personality would say was fun. So I’ve got to thumbs up these guys to 5-stars because until I find a place with a brand called chicken + beer that could top it I’ll find a reason to fly to Melbourne and make my way here! By the way, got the corn skillet — also super unique and can’t beat a hot skillet shoved on your table with more cheese than a Chicago style pizza, but wasn’t our fav.

Oh Gami. This is a pretty simple review. Did I like this place? Yes I did. We ordered, the food came, we ate. The chicken was definitely good. We ordered the sweet chili, soy garlic, and spicy as well as rice for the five of us. Suffice to say rice and the three plates filled us up. Overall I was definitely happy with this place. Small complaints, most of which is a personal preference unique to myself. First of all the beer selection is small and left me wanting. Given I am a beer snob so no big deal considering. Non beer snobs will probably be fine. Now to the food itself. Starting with the rice… Rice was good. Not undercooked and not overcooked. It was fine. It’s rice, white rice, it is easy to do and they did it right. Thumbs up guys. The chicken in general was good. I’ll get to ther specifics of the sauces later but right now I’ll talk about the chicken itself. Generally the chicken was just right. We ordered the boneless variation and that usually presents the challenge of drying out. Thankfully these were not dry. I was very happy about that. Now to the individual sauces. I will start off with the sweet chili. Was it sweet? Yes it was. Did I taste the chili? Yes I did. Was I happy with it. Yes I was indeed. Simple right? Yup simple, sweet chili was to my liking and met my expectation. Now the soy garlic. This one was good but I had a small issue with it. It was much sweeter than I expected and the garlic flavor was not as strong as I desired. The sweetness felt a little redundant with us ordering the sweet chili already and if the garlic flavor was much more pronounced it would not have bothered me as much. Now to the spicy. I didn’t really feel the heat of the sauce. I enjoy spicy food a lot. If I am sweating while eating I am a happy camper. The spicy option here was not hot to me. In regards to that the other members of my party felt the spice. They were sweating and so forth. This is where the small personal complaints that I mentioned early come into play. To me the spicy was not spicy whereas others felt it was. I am the odd man out but I can understand that as I regularly order the hottest item available at places that offer such volcanic selections. Despite my personal complaints I did enjoy this place. Was it perfect? Not to me. Will I return? I can see myself definitely returning to this location. I want to give this place a perfect score but personally I cannot. The redundancy of the sweetness with two of the sauces when the sauce selection is already limited is an issue for me. With that said, the quality of the overall meal is what is ultimately important. I may have had some complaints but that will not be evident to everyone. Do yourself a favor and try this place out for yourself. I recommend it.

OMG, This place. The name says it all. Chicken & Beer, what more could you want. Hidden down a staircase going downstairs this place just blew me out the water. We ordered a big plate of chicken wings, dumplings and beer. It was just delicious. The smile of my face was so big just to be sitting down here. This place is def worth the 5 stars. I have told so many people about this place and to go check it out. So if your reading this GOCHECKITOUT. You wont be disappointed. You can order mini kegs of beer for the table to. Perfect for groups of people and open late. Décor inside looks really nice, and always playing some chilled laidback beats.

Give KFC the ditch for once and try this place out. Real crispy chicken and the sauces go so well with this stuff. We smashed through the whole thing in about a 30min Max sitting! And it’s the sort of satisfaction where you pop them straight in your mouth and not care about the searing burning on your tongue cos you didn’t wait for it to cool off! I’m not a huge drinker but I am aware that this stuff would go awesome with bear, and this definitely goes awesome with soft drink! I haven’t satisfyingly emptied a whole can of soda so quickly in ages. There’s also a bar next door and I can imagine this being a crazy night out when you go drink there and then finish your night off with fried chicken! The spicy sauce is actually real punchy so if you aren’t keen on that the soy garlic sauce is still to die for. Seriously, get this and get it sauced up!

The Koreans know how to do fried chicken. Second time to this place, the chicken and beer experience is better than a trip to KFC. Get the original half and half; choose spicy + soy/garlic flavours. You’ll get enough for two people and the meals come with sides(radish pickles, and cabbage salad). The flavour is a steal at $ 32. Don’t forget the Gami beer(bitter or lager). Go for a jug, otherwise get a pot for $ 4
