My favourite vegetarian place in Melbourne! It’s so delicious and they have daily menu that u can choose from! The place is so serene and the staffs are so friendly Their food is so clean and tasty, also forget to mention they have amazing tea selection :) Ohhh don’t forget to visit the gallery and say hi to the cute monks

I’m not sure how to describe this place. The main area to eat felt a little cold and sterile yet the food and staff were great! I’ve ordered the bento boxes on each visit and came away extremely happy. I’ve found their curried dishes do a better job than some of the others on offer. While this place didn’t blow my socks off, it’s a great catch up spot during a busy work day with a very relaxed atmosphere. I will easily be back.

You’ve probably walked past this place a million times without ever realising that there is also a café within the Art Gallery. Paying respect to the Buddhist surrounds, Fo Guang Yuan serves exclusively vegetarian/vegan food. Don’t be put off if you’re a meat eater, the faux chicken nuggets are delicious! Cheap food in peaceful surrounds.

Vegetarian Tea House for lunch — such tranquility in the middle if the CBD. I love this place, vegetarian food, quiet, and a bento box for roughly $ 10. Strange part is the tea costs $ 7.50(comes with a snack) so I haven’t given that a try. Each day there are three«specials» which take about 3 minutes to be served, however the menu does include a rice, noodles, stir fry or soup options with a lot of «vegetatian chicken or beef»(ie. fake) options. Dumplings, spring rolls and more and depending on the day you may even get a friendly smile from a visiting Buddhist monk. Upstairs features a meditation hall and off from the Tea House is the Gallery. Books and other Buddhist teachings are also available. Don’t tell everyone though — it’s too quiet to be inundadted.

Similarly, I have no idea how this place remains a secret — it’s nestled in the middle of the CBD; the staff are lovely and respectful; the food is cheap, delicious and modest. A quiet and tranquil eating spot in the heart of the city. Built under a Buddhist temple, enjoy a variety of delicious teas and a completely vegetarian menu(which changes each day of the week!). Also be sure to view the art gallery!

I have no idea how this place is such a secret — it’s right in the centre of Melbourne cbd. Walk straight from Elizabeth street through a giant ornate door past the gallery to a cool, whisper quiet café style restaurant area. Everything on the menu is vegetarian(or vegan). The specials are different for each weekday(I need to go back for Gado-Gado Thursday). And it is great value for money(read: cheap). It’s also buddhist centre equipped with meditation area. Will go back.
