This restaurant is hidden away in a really nasty looking alleyway right off Little Bourke Street(Chinatown). We came here for dinner and it was completely empty but that’s okay. Customer Service: They were pretty kind and respectful. There’s a special deal that gives you one extra main from a special list if you order 2 mains(rice and noodle dishes not included) which seemed pretty useful but because it was just my friend and I – and we were not ready to finish 3 entire mains — we didn’t take advantage. Food: The food was alright, but nothing I would come running back for. I ordered Salty Fish + Chicken Rice and Char Kway Teow. The Salty Fish + Chicken Rice was actually a little TOO salty. I’ve tried the dish at several locations and I wasn’t a huge fan of Da Tong’s. They also had a very interesting rendition of Char Kway Teow. They had the noodles, but instead of frying it with soy sauce and other flavourings, they used a spicy chili sauce and it was completely unlike any Char Kway Teow I’ve ever had. The flavourings were completely different although the noodles were the same. It wasn’t terrible… just unexpected. — The prices were reasonable for mains, but I wouldn’t label it as cheap by any means. The food wasn’t amazing, but it was decent and filling. Everything was pretty much alright and it’s worth a try, but nothing to look forward too. Huge CON: They DIDN’T have Xiao Long Bao! /Heart sinks
