Having work chose this location for a big team dinner I have to say I was impressed that the food of offer covered all tastes and came out at a great speed considering there were two dozen of us! The food was good too, though there were a few casual diners here it did appear that they are primarily targeting the event space, so this could be a consideration for your next function or wedding etc. The atmosphere was pleasant and they had spaces that could be sectioned offer to support a number of groups concurrently and yet look after any casual dinners who dropped in.

I had it on good authority that this place had a good vibe and food. I was excited to try it but sadly, I wouldn’t go back. We went downstairs to the lounge area. It’s dark and moody but I kept getting wafts of toilet smell. Not a good start. The pizza and nachos were average. We ordered the house Shiraz and when they arrived, they were considerably small. Don’t want to sound like a wino, but we weren’t very happy. We found out later that they were training new staff, so the bartender tried to make up for our tiny wines. Anyway, maybe the upstairs is better? I doubt I’d try though.

Downstairs is a great place to settle in for the evening with a nice selection of beers and wines. The appetizers list is intriguing with unique items. Pizzas are also very tasty and quite filling. Best part is the staff here is very friendly and makes sure that you have a good time. The mix of couches, tables, bar stools and open space makes it feel like you can grab your own spot to sit and chill while listening to the selection of classic American music. If there is just one thing to improve would be to have a few more beers on tap, although you will likely find a bottle that fits your taste. Overall a nice gem worth checking out.

Bluestone is tucked away, with the bar downstairs being a cozy and intimate venue for functions, or just a quiet night out. The staff are ALWAYS friendly, and so courteous. The drinks menu is fun, and the barstaff are happy to cater and help you out. The food is great(both upstairs in the restaurant and in the downstairs section), and I have never had a bad experience there. They also cater for private functions, and have some good suggestions, and can cordon off an area for you. They sometimes hold VIP nights if you sign up, and definitely do a range of degustations and express lunch specials as well.

God I love work functions… Located on Flinders Lane in the CBD, Bluestone is a restaurant and lounge bar. We didn’t eat off the menu so I cannot comment on the food per se however, from what I heard while talking to the guys who organised the event, it has won numerous awards and has been in the Age Good Food Guide 9 years in a row so those guys are surely not kidding themselves and you can expect a lovely fine dining experience if you ever head there I, for one, will certainly return. Talking about impressive, Bluestone surely boasts an impressive wine list, which it displays proudly on shelves along the wall harbouring the dining area in the restaurant. Glancing at its a la carte menu, you can expect to fork out in the high $ 20s for an entrée and $ 30s for a main — I’ve marked down the pan seared ocean trout, blood orange w/snow pea tendrils. It’s open for lunch & dinner and being a sucker for dim lighting, I reckon it’ll be perfect for a romantic dinner. You’ll find the lounge bar downstairs — a cool and stylish New York style basement layout where you can grab a seat, chill over cocktails. Those, who are hungry, will love the pizzas and tapas on offer — we had pizzas and I have to say they’re seriously good + check this out, they have live jazz nghts on Thursdays. If you’re into Pizza making, they have that as well where their chefs basically teach you how to make pizzas. This, however, is generally a Corporate event which requires a minimum spend as well as a sizeable number of attendees. It’s meant to be a team building activity apparently. To finish off…(As Gordon Ramsay would say)… I like it… I quite like it… Bluestone has made my must-try list and, well… We’ll meet again…

One of my favourite places in Melbourne I’ve been visiting Bluestone for 10 years and it continues to be an excellent venue to eat, drink, chill out and socialise.

Bluestone is a restaurant and bar that seems to cater to a very large spectrum of clientele. Upstairs is quite a fancy restaurant where you could easily splash out $ 100 to $ 150 a head. Entrees are between $ 20 and $ 25 and mains are between $ 30 and $ 45. We ate hear a while ago and were not impressed enough for it to become a regular haunt. But the food was nevertheless good. The other half of Bluestone is the little den like basement area located down the stairs. It’s decked out really well — with dark colours, comfy seats and a relaxed atmosphere that is very inviting. There you can order pizzas and choose from their quite extensive wine list. The pizzas aren’t that cheap though. For a similar price I’d say those at +39 have the edge.

Named after the bluestones the building is made of, Bluestone Restaurant and Bar offers a range of experiences in a centrally located venue. For those just wanting dinner, their upstairs is an elegant dining experience. For those just wanting a beer and bar food, downstairs is a New York style lounge/bar. With a Modern Australian menu, you find a range of interesting dishes including snapper marinated with coriander and chilli or char-grilled eye fillet with radicchio and goat’s camembert butter. On the pricier side, entrees are $ 21 and mains are $ 36. For me, the best part was the entrée — crab and avocado salad. Unfortunately, this entrée is no longer on the menu. Bluestone like many Melbourne restaurants tries to keep their menu innovative and offer new dishes. Whilst upstairs felt a bit formal, downstairs was nice and relaxing. We grabbed a glass of wine and ordered a pizza($ 22) on a separate occasion — good pizzas, but I’ve had better.

Very casual and relaxing, a place to come and leave the world behind you with a slow atmosphere with plush and elegant furnishings all round. Gourmet food at afforadable prices has the unique flavors of Australia, and listen to live jazz music amongst others here, expect to spend per person around $ 80 to $ 100 dollars for a full out course and drinks. Reservations recommended for large groups and parties, and perfect for a romantic meal in the evening, get booking. The building is magnificent in design and very historical. Car parking can be found on Flinders Road car lots at a small charge.
