Good atmosphere next to the Yarra, younger crowd and doing the standard American style fare. It’s a good place to catch up for a few drinks with a larger crowd, mass appeal so lots of options for all.

Food is delicious — had the double cheeseburger, croquettes, lamb cutlets and rice balls — all fantastic! And the view is a stunner as well.

Ordered a fish burger, very impressed with the quality of the fish, so soft and tender. The tartare sauce made the dish special. Ambience is quite nice and lively. Drinks were good with plentiful amounts of beer. Nothing super spectacular but definitely come back here. Crinkle cut chips to die for!

I have been wanting to check out this place for a while. I knew it was a bar on the yarra behind the station. What I didn’t know was how long the bar was. I love the vibe, the view and the crowd here. I didn’t eat anything but the food that came out of the kitchen smells great and definitely makes me regret to going to dinner elsewhere. Probably not a great place if you want an intimate catchup, music gets quite loud. I am not sure if I will love coming here on cold raining days/nights, but on beautiful day/night, this is definitely the place to go for drink or even a bite…

Every train station might need a bar like Arbory I say. (Sydney central station I’m looking at you .) This spot however has the advantage of being wedged between the view of the river and the grungy old feel of the station. Order at the bar and drinks/food will come in mere minutes. It’s generally self serve water, cutlery and condiments. Just find yourself the perfect spot and you’re ready for a good time ;) We’ve tried the lobster roll, fish and chips burger and zucchini flower. I am a huge fan of those fish and chips burger and at $ 16 it’s a pretty good deal. Arbory is definitely a crowd pleaser and a must visit in Melbourne

I’m a big fan of the Melbourne River so finding such a cute bar and eatery right beside it is definitely a win! Although I didn’t try any of the food the burgers looked incredible when I saw them being delivered to the tables around us. Arbory Bar is absolutely packed most of the time so it can be hard to snag a seat but even standing this bar is great! Love the vibe, the location and the staff– especially during a warm Melbourne afternoon.

Great outdoor space for a drink and/or a bite. Stopped in for a coffee and ended up having lunch. Tried the Lobster roll trying to keep things light, but should have opted for the burger instead. The lobster salad(mayo based?) was too gloppy and could barely taste the lobster — tasted more like imitation crab stick. Saw a lot of others ordering the burger and regretted not ordering it. Overall great space though and I’m sure the other food items would be better; hence, the 4-stars.

I had an event here and must say they handled it very well. I had underestimated how many people would show up but it was no issue as they quickly found another table to incorporate into the booking. Getting up and ordering and paying by the bar meant no fuss with the bill. The queue does get quite long though… My fish and chip burger was satisfactory in my opinion but I saw some other dishes that looked better so I am not writing off the whole kitchen. This place has quickly become a melbourne must and i can see why. The location is unbeatable and the view of the water makes it luxurious even. I am very happy to see that arbory has not fallen for the classic melbourne syndrome of «Oh we are so overwhelmed by the crowds that everything will just be really half assed and meh» which I see happen to so many other places. Melbourne is restless and has no time for venues that can’t keep up. This one has gotten into the lead!

Summer get in my life! This bar has become my go to bar with a view. There is nothing better than sitting besides our beautiful(and murky brown) Yarra river sipping on a espresso martini off tap… Yes that’s right, espresso martinis are on tap! Arbory has a rotating list of cocktails they will be making seasonally served out of a tap, which is pretty cool. The food is also delicious pub fare. Think burgers, chips and salads but all done very well. The bars are well stocked with a strong Australian craft focus and a great wine list. As the whole venue is outdoors the place is well heated(gas heaters) to cope with the winter months. There are also blankets available. Summer is when this bar really shines though with loads of people flocking to grab a good seat or stand along the long bar. Highly recommended for a Sunday day session or an after works drink with mates.

Unbeatable for service and ambience along with great wine list and bar menu! A little pricey on the wines great bathrooms and outside heaters are great! Great chilli dog but sloppy to eat! Love the river view but the music is a bit duff duff for my liking. All it needs is free wifi and you’d earn 5 stars.

Location, location, location. Nestled on the(opposite) bank of the Yarra this place is one of only few on North Side and it is in a prime spot. Both entries are easily accessible for people arriving via train and its at the foot of the footbridge for those travelling from Southbank. Be warned — this place gets PACKED on nice days and it can be a fight to get a spot with some shade so you may want to wear a hat, just in case. Food is good and is pumped out of the kitchen relatively quickly despite the high demand.

Super soft sweet bun with just as soft patties to match. This burger has a mix of sauces and flavours that reminds me of a double quarter pounder with cheese but with quality ingredients. Situated basically on Flinders Street station, this is a great spot with an even better view.

The great thing about Arbory is that it represents the genesis and transformation of dis-used space in Melbourne to something quintessentially Melbourne: Perched across from the arts centre, Southbank and the Yarra and right next to a train station. In the summer months you’re winning, but I’m not sure things would be the same in the colder winter months. Due to the crowds this place draws, it is most certainly an advocate of build it and they will come. It also proves that In Melbourne there is no shortage of after 9 – 5 drinking venues. The space is long but can be a bit squishy and get crowded at times. Otherwise, good cocktails, tap beers and pretty damm tasty, but not as good for you bar snacks are availble.

Great spot to while away an entire afternoon. Effectively a set of containers, with very nice and clean toilet facilities I should add, placed between the train station and the river. It has a good selection of drinks, we had a couple of bottles of excellent red wine, listening to the DJ playing vinyls on a Saturday afternoon, and watching trains and boats go by. We didn’t try the food but it looked like the usual pub food; baskets of chips and hot meat in buns). Should be the summer 2015⁄16 spot to go to in the CBD, under the trees next to the river.

Great location at the train station and next to the river. Came here after work and it was a decent crowd for a week night. Outdoor seating had ample coverage and heaters. Good beer on tap. Clean bathroom, ladies! I will be back.

Heard a lot about this place, mostly good. When a friend decided we should go here I was looking forward to it. This place does have amazing views of Southbank, the Yarra, and the arts centre, especially at night, all lit up. Large trees above with heaters keeping you warm on cold nights. Really great place to sit and have a drink. We ordered a few things to eat and a couple drinks. Pumpkin aracini, hummus and garlic bread, chips, and charcuterie plate. It was all really bland. Everything tasted like it was bought at the supermarket. The meats had no flavour, ridiculous amounts of ‘charred’ bread, hummus tasted like cardboard. The staff didn’t seem to happy to be there. It all just seemed like no one cared about anything. It should be a great tourist spot that showcases Melbourne’s great food and drinks at the iconic Flinders Street station but I wouldn’t tell anyone to go here.

Why has this place not been here forever? With Melbourne’s unique transport situation(i.e inability to run on time if ever) why has no one every though to put a great little eatery next to the train station? The area here is designed for people to share their tales of public transport woe, or anything else that’s more interesting than the 5.01 being cancelled. Again. There’s two bar areas, which is needed as Arbory seems to go on forever. It’s since expanded to be the length of the train station. The drinks menu has a little something to offer everyone. As the girls and I went for a sneaky Saturday afternoon wine we didn’t taste any food. Next time though we will.

What a gem! Great location with slightly elevated views of the Yarra and Southbank while backing onto flinders station. To ensure you can maximise the views bar style seating that run almost the length of the venue. If that’s not your style or you have a bigger group, they’ve got you covered with an assortment of large tables. I sampled the double cheese burger, actually I demolished it!!! Sooooo much flavour and great value coming with a side of chips. I will be back, oh yes I will be back.

Only had a few drinks there the other weekend, so can’t vouch for the food, but it was a great introduction to the relatively new river-side bar. The terrace seems to stretch on forever — almost like the the length of a train platform you may say — and all seats were taken on a nice Melbourne summer day when we popped past. Never mind, there’s lots of places to rest up along the terrace with a drink and just take in a bit of people-watching sport or wave to passing tourists on the river cruises, should that float your boat. Beers seemed a trifle cheaper than a little farther along at Riverland but both places are a nice enough spot to take some out-of-towners to soak in a bit of the city.
