After seeing the great Unilocal reviews I stopped in here for a takeaway order. I review the menu in advance and knew exactly what I wanted. I enter and there were 2 women a blonde and another with short black hair, they finally stopped talking to greet me. I advised I wanted to place an order & knew what I wanted marguerite pizza and polenta. When I handed her my credit card she sighed. She asked if it was savings, I didn’t understand why, I told her it was credit, then she said it was going to cost an additional 41 cents for me to use card instead on savings. As if I care it’s 41 cents, she was clearly disappointed I wanted to use credit. The food took just over 10 minutes. The pizza was ok, too much sauce not enough cheese. Some areas the dough was so thin it was soggy. The polenta was awesome!

I ordered a few pizzas and polenta chips via Suppertime for delivery and I must say Suppertime is ruining +39’s reputation of great pizza. The pizzas were barely lukewarm when they arrived so te crust is soggy and chewy and half the topping of the Nutella pizza slid off like a giant skid mark. We also ordered the polenta chips. Obviously a bit tough and chewy because it’s cold, but also $ 9 for 7 measly pieces of polenta chips is a bit overpriced.

Very disappointed that after accepting my order on Suppertime that I get a phone call 25 minutes later that my order won’t be coming because they’ve decided to focus on orders in the restaurant because foot traffic was«more than they expected». They promptly charged my credit card though and the refund will take a few days to process. It’s a shame because the meal that I had at the restaurant a few weeks ago was great.

I’m Italian born & bred and this place is as close as it gets to the REALTHING in Melbourne… Even better, they add a touch(but just a touch) of Aussie-ness to their menu but without compromising their Italian authenticity. Wood-fired oven freaks don’t bother going, these guys have electric one, but still arguably the best pizza I’ve had in Australia, ever. Also their pasta is awesome and the vitello tonnato is just like my grandma’s.

It is so rare for me to find a pizza place that I like and would actually recommend to anyone in Melbourne… Being a huge fan of Grimaldi’s under the Brooklyn bridge, this place is close in its own rights. The dough was crispy and flavourful, the cheese delightful and the sauce was fresh! The pizza I chose had prosciutto which they add after it has been cooked but I prefer my prosciutto cold on the side and it was the best! When it comes to pizzas I like to keep traditionally to be Margherita but they have a wonderful selection to please everyone. My current top favourite pizza in Melbourne! Enjoy it!

Quite possibly the freshest pizza that I’ve ever had!!! I had tried & failed to dine at +39 Pizzeria once before so was highly surprised to be able to get a table on a busy Friday night. The restaurant has a very good atmosphere and smells amazing!!! Service was prompt & it felt like no time at all elapsed between ordering & the arrival of both food and drinks. My dining companion & I were seated next to the kitchen which is a hive of activity yet despite its close proximity to diners I barely noticed any noise. All the chefs & servers working well as a team. We chose to share a Diavola pizza & the Insalata Mista. The pizza must literally have left the oven and hit our table within 60 seconds as it was initially too hot to touch. Once our fingers were safe to touch it, it certainly did not disappoint on flavour & the base was light & crispy — just perfect. The salad was fresh but for me the dressing had been applied perhaps a little too liberally, Parmesan shavings were very tasty & helped to cut through the sweetness of the dressing. I’m already contemplating my next visit as all the food that I saw coming out of the kitchen looked great!!!

This is definitely more like it. I opted for a Parmigiana pizza because I couldn’t bear the thought of enduring another dry margherita pizza like the one I’d had at 400 Gradi the previous day. Perhaps I should have kept the faith because the Parmigiana was much closer to the mark: a springy base, good quality ingredients and certainly not dry. If I’m being picky there was perhaps a little too much cheese for my liking, but ’tis a minor blemish. I felt the service was slightly too pushy, at one point trying to up-sell me to the most expensive pizza on the menu. Again though, a small failing: the service was quick, and unlike at 400 Gradi, there was no difficulty in accommodating me without a reservation. +39 Pizzeria is what 400 Gradi should be.

One of the most authentic Italian pizzas I’ve had outside of Italy. Great atmosphere and the smell of the entire restaurant is incredible. Staff is very friendly and quick also.

We tried going here for dinner originally but didn’t have a booking — we couldn’t get in! That was our bad I guess, as this restaurant always looks to be pumping. We ended up going back for lunch on our last day in Melbourne. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating, and I was in love with her Italian accent! We ordered the Focaccia Semplice which is the garlic oil, sea salt and rosemary garlic bread. Couldn’t fault it, would happily munch on this every day. I went with the Sole E Luna which is half a Margherita and half a Calzone. It was DELICIOUS. I couldn’t eat it all! I wanted to! The CHEESE. SO. MUCH. CHEESE. I find with pizzas that you need to get the«holy trinity» — the dough/base, the sauce and the cheese. This pizza had it all, all of it tasted amazing. My partner had the Crudaiola which is a staff favourite, but wished he went with my choice. He says the pizza itself was great but he felt it lacked any type of sauce(instead was a layer of tomatoes). I loved the atmosphere and décor of this place, it was cozy and warm, our meals and drinks came out quickly. We loved this place and would definitely come back in the future.

The first thing we noticed about this restaurant was the friendly and efficient service. The second thing was, of course, the truly incredible pizza. The thin base, thick crust and light toppings combined to make a delicious meal. Book or be prepared to turn up early and eat fast — this place fills up quickly.

Rosemary and sea salt pizza starters was good. Ordered the prawn pizza, most of it was filled with tomatoes but overall good flavour. Next time we will get margerita or a pizza with more cheese! Wine I ordered was delicious– red Italian wine

Me and my girlfriend went here when we were kind of short on on time to go to the movies. They were fast, efficient and nice. We had the 4 formaggi which was not the best I’ve ever had but was pretty good. The cost was very reasonable. Keep it up guys!

Very nice original italian restaurant. Pasta starts at 20aud. Pizza starts around 15aud. All in all the Atmosphere of the place is cosy and nice as well. Its getting full at night and a great place to meet up with friends. My Risotto was perfect. The waitress is originally from italy very kind and professionell too. The Gnochi of my friend has been homemade as far as I can tell. For desert we got a nutella pizza with strawberrys. A real Highlight! The real italian hot chocolate was thik and not too sweet. Really something for chocolate lovers! Great Quality food!

Fantastic pizza. Probably my favourite in the city. The crust is perfect and crispy and the flavour combos are so interesting and different. Service is a bit weird/rude, but not a big deal. A tiny place and always packed, so make sure you book ahead.

The best of the best in Italian. Not only are they quick with service and serving… but the combinations are both traditional and edgy. Worth the wait and worth the dollar bill. Ciao

After walking out of another place we ended up here as I had read good things and it was 1 block from our hotel. We arrived at 9:01pm and noticed the closed sign on the door. The place was packed and buzzing so we went in anyway, hoping that maybe someone had forgotten to turn the sign around!(it was a tiny sign so easily overlooked) The guy behind the counter said they were indeed closed which we accepted. as we pondered what to do next, he came back to us and said if were going to be quick, and only have pizza he could sneak another order in to the kitchen. we said that would be fine and took our seats. We ordered a bottle of wine and a pizza within 3 minutes and within 10minutes we had both. The service was warm, friendly and very professional and attentive. The pizza was simple and delicious — something with mushrooms, truffle oil and rocket — our wine and water glasses were continually topped up and the offer of chilli and chilli oil after our pizza was delivered was an exceptionally nice touch. we were only in Melbourne for 2 nights but instantly wished we were there for another night so we could go back. Outstanding. Grazie!

Similar pizza style to Carlton’s D.O.C: thin bases, few toppings but an emphasis on tasty sauces and fresh excellent ingredients. We were there in a big group which meant we sampled just about most of the pizza menu(what else would you get here!), and every one was different and delicious. Yes, you sometimes wonder how one of these pizzas can be worth $ 25 each when they must be pretty cheap to churn out, and the thin bases mean you can put a bit away and the night might end up costing you more than first thought, but the quality is outstanding so it makes it worthwhile. Recommended a side of polenta chips, if just for the rich cheese sauce, but maybe pass on the ‘meat stuffed deep fried olives’ which sound much better than they were. They pack you in a little tight here — going to the bathroom can be an adventure in contorting your way between tables and the piles of drinks down the back of the place, and it was a busy Sat night so service was flat our and wasn’t the best I’ve seen(don’t ummm and ahh too much over your menu or they’ll just move onto the next table) but still friendly enough. When we were there the place was packed with people visiting for the Jehovah’s Witness convention, so it just might have the big guy upstairs’ stamp of approval too.

The risotto and pizzas were fabulous. The service was spectacular and the desserts were divine. We were recommended this place by our friends and it was a great recommendation anyway. Do make a reservation if you are planning to dine there on the weekend because the place was packed on a Sunday night.

+39 pizzeria is one of Melbourne’s most famous pizza restaurants. I’ve been to Melbourne twice in the last 5 months or so and it’s always packed, always buzzing from all the times I’ve walked past so it must be good right? I wouldn’t call myself some kind of gourmet pizza connoisseur but I do LOVE my pizza. I could even write a ballad describing the love I have for pizza despite not being able to sing nor write or read music. Pizza is comfort and pizza is like an old friend. I’m that type of person who doesn’t mind pizza whether it’s cold or hot, it’s still good regardless. So although I may not be some pizza expert I think I can tell whether a pizza is delicious or not. My friend and I walked into +39 pizzeria(for those who are wondering it’s named so as +39 is Italy’s country code) during lunch time on a Sunday and we happened to be the only customers there. The waiter was a very sweet, nice Italian who has been living in Australia for last few years. He was able to joke around and struck some conversation with us. However, his heavy accent meant that half the time we simply just smiled and laugh having no idea what he was talking about. Anyway after looking at the menu we called him over to order and asked what his favourite so we could get something that we’ll most likely enjoy. He said that the toscana pizza was his favourite and highly recommended us to get that one. When it arrived all I could see was rocket. Mounds of rocket. I like my veggies but i do not like it this much especially on my pizza but guess a pizza is more ‘gourmet’ if you just chuck a heap of rocket on top. Cutting into the pizza and eating bite by bite I just felt the sauce lacked any real depth, the Italian sausage was very minimal and the Parmesan cheese didn’t really add anything to it. Plus all I could remember tasting was rocket even though I scrapped off half of it on my pizza. I was pretty disappointed because I was expecting so much more but I’ll give it three stars for the nice waiter, and the nice dining experience. But that’s it… might come back to try other pizzas… maybe…
