Had breakfast here a couple of days ago and was utterly disappointed with the service. We were looking forward to a nice breakfast but it was not meant to be. Not only did they get the order wrong but we got admonished when they delivered the food. No apology nothing. Upon paying, we found out that we were billed for an item that was not delivered. The guy at the cashier asked the guy who took the order and he placed the blame on the kitchen staff. Thankfully I asked for a copy of the tax invoice! Don’t think we will be back or recommending this place to our friends.

Not sure what Abbey is on as there are loads less than healthy options at this consistently good café. My usual suspect is poached eggs(because I can’t be arsed poaching at home) avo on toast with smoked salmon and tomato chutney(@ least 500 calories) — Also I make Bircher at home and there is no way I’d put sugar laden compote on top(as they tend to) if I wanted to be healthy. Lunches are their classic burgers with super crunchy chips or a healthy salad if you prefer… It’s really up to you!

Maybe it’s because I don’t like Burcher Muesli. That’s right, I’m one of those people, the kind that enjoy a good hot breakfast. I’m not into healthy options, they’re a waste of my time. So you can imagine my disappointment when I read the menu only to find a tirade of healthy options, supplemented by the conventional ‘eggs on toast.’ Eggs on toast? I can eat that at home. Give me something exciting! Something fantastic! Something I thought I had to eat at dinner time but suddenly makes sense to eat at breakfast. If you’re into the healthy… stuff…Mr Burch is a good place to go, I think. It’s a nice atmosphere, it follows the basic rules of any modern café, and for people who live in the area it would be nice to hobble on down for a sip of coffee and a *shudder* wholesome meal.
