Love the bargains at Vic’s meat. They’re only open from 8 til noon Saturdays, and it can get a bit busy, so come prepared to line up and give yourself a good hour. Longer if its close to a public holiday. We’ve been making bimonthly trips to Vic’s for ages now. We first heard about some crazy special they were doing on their wagyu(BMS8+ for $ 49.95/kilo I think it was). Turns out that’s not an entirely unusual price and we frequently pick up a few steaks for somewhere between $ 50−70/kilo. Works out to less than $ 15/steak for something you’d pay a fortune for at a steakhouse. Last weekend I picked up some wagyu rump(BMS6) for $ 16/kilo. I saw the same cut and marbling score going for $ 50/400g at a steakhouse recently. They do house made cevapis that are unbeatable and deliciously spicy. The Char Siu is also delicious, and the Spanish chorizo they get in is the best I’ve found. I buy a kilo of that stuff at a time. Service is great. The butchers are friendly and super helpful. Honestly though, its a room full of raw meat, of course I’m five-starring.

I was searching,(searchin) on a one way street, I was hopin’(hopin) for a chance at meat… New flavour of this month for me is Wagyu. I googled where to buy it fresh and found Vic’s meats. Vic’s meats has a history going back to 1996 starting in Oxford st Darlinghurst. They have a «Market day» on Saturdays from 8am– 12pm. That’s 4 hours to get your mits on some Top of the top quality meats at reduced prices. They supply to Level 41 Restaurant if you need a resume it back it up Noted selections included Grain fed T-bone. There was only one left by the time I got there at 11am. Wagyu… Master. Kobe. 9BMS. What what? That’s right. At the special price of $ 69.95 a kilo, and before you baulk, it’s usually $ 110. Meat lollies! Wagyu burger patties, Wagyu Chorizo sausages, Wagyu Bresaola. Tomahawk. Fancy yourself a Viking feast? It can be yours for about 50 rods. If size does matter, impress the family at the Xmas BBQ with your cave woman sized Beef with full length rib bone in. Berkshire pork. Pork Belly, American Pork Ribs. I mean Flintstone size again. The Butchers themselves are in house and can give you advice and cut meat to your personal request. There is a sign up that says«Say Hi to Vic». Celeb status. Check! It’s well organised, and although busy, you don’t wait long to get served. Sweet talking Butcher, I know what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna come back to you.

Saturday mornings are the time to visit for some great prices on meats here from a bunch of professional butchers! Plenty of variety and plenty of personal service. Wear something a little warmer than usual as they are located in refrigerated premises as you’d expect when dealing with fresh meat. Only open till midday, so get here early!
