Sydney is notorious for great Thai food, so on the way home to London I stopped by this little restaurant for one last taste. For airport Thai, this place was great. The vegetable curry puffs weren’t fresh, but still delicious and a good size portion. I ordered off menu, asking them to make me a king prawn fried rice and it was DELISH! Very fresh, very quick service. Hubby ordered and chicken cashew nut stir fry and it was as good as he has had. I know that one wouldn’t automatically assume airport Thai would be great, but I highly recommend this place. The only thing that could have been better is the décor and atmosphere, but hey, it is an airport after all.

Just enjoyed a delicious meal here. It made me forget I was in the airport. We got the panang curry, egg noodles with chicken, and a side of veggies. I recommend the dishes.

Taste of Thai looks more like Indian food than Thai food — and whilst I didn’t get to try the bright orange and greens collection of what looked like a form of curry, I can speak to you about their other not so quite Thai assortment — breakfast. Their Thai Breakky menu consisted of Omelletes($ 9.50) Toast($ 2) Tomato($ 2) Hashbrown($ 2). Although the prices seemed ok, it was the collection of greasy oily pockets– o– something in the display that really turned me off… Not quite the taste of thai and not quite alluring to try a meal… Sorry, it may be superficial but presentation counts for something.

One of the perks of being a journalist is that I often get invitations to things associated with my work. This week I was invited to try the food at Taste of Thai at Sydney Airport. With a few other journos we sat down and prepared ourselves for a lovely selection of ‘Airport Food’. What we got was delicious and could have been served in any Thai restaurant — definitely not ‘Airport Food’. We had a range of dishes which included Pad Kra Pao(Minced beef with green beans, basil and chilli), BBQ Chicken, Green Curry and Satay Tofu. A range of other dishes were offered but the four mentioned above were my favourites. Airports around the world are known for uninteresting overpriced food but Sydney Airport seems to have picked winners with some outlets. Okay, so there are the McDonalds and Hungry Jacks but have a look around and you might be surprised at what you get.
