International Short Stay Carpark

The undercover International Short Stay carpark is a relatively recent addition to the International Terminal and as such is in good condition. The approach to the parking is well-​sign posted, as are the lane indicators to filter off for Valet parking. You receive a ticket when you enter and you must pre-​pay this before you leave the airport (though you can pay at the exit gate if you forget!). The spaces are roomy, which is handy given ever expanding vehicle sizes. The carpark is well lit and has lifts as well as the flat escalators thingies to either Departures or Arrivals. Before it sounds like the best ever review for a carpark — there is one downside, it’s expensive! Even for short stays of an hour or so it’s pricey and if a flight is delayed and you haven’t checked before you set off then you’re up for $ 52 for anything past 3 hours! I did this once to my literal cost. There’s actually a McDonalds on the final approach to T1, so park there until you get the call that they’re through customs and you can pick them up for free!
I haven’t ever been able to justify parking at the airport for anything other than a pick-​up or drop off. Even the ‘cheaper’ long stay options near the airport are hugely expensive. My advice would be to leave the car at home and book a private taxi in advance, arranging for collection from the Short Stay Carpark.
