Great service with a smile, even when they’re super busy. Open on New Year’s Eve afternoon!

My fish had a lovely crispness, without being overdone, and was just perfectly seasoned. My son said«it’s a disgrace that this burger is better than any I’ve had in the US.» My wife said her octopus was outstanding. Nice beer selection. Lovely ocean view.

Situated halfway between(south) Manly and Shelly Beach the Bower Restaurant is a nice modern restaurant/café that serves amazing coffee and great food. We sampled their Banana Pancakes and Corn pikelets. The Banana Pancakes came with maple syrup, fresh pieces of banana, strawberries, blueberries and best of all crispy bacon. If you haven’t had crispy bacon with some maple syrup you haven’t lived. The corn pikelets came with smoked salmon, Cherry tomatoes and red onion. A very tasty savoury dish. The stand out however was their coffee. I can’t really explain how much I liked it; from the first blissful slip to the sad final drop. I ordered a second one immediately. After finishing that one I thought about asking for a takeaway to accompany my walk back to Manly — but that seemed too excessive even for me. If you are in Manly the walk to Shelly beach is great and stopping in at The Bower is worth the time. Remember; must have a coffee.

The Bower Restaurant is perfect for a relaxed weekend breakfast, just 5 minutes walk from the main beach at Manly. Wander in from the beach, grab a table outside and soak up the sun. The breakfast menu contains everything you could possibly want(i.e greasy bacon and hash browns if your still recovering from the night before, and fresh, light options if you’re feeling healthy). There are omelettes, ham, cheese and avocado croissants and every type of egg, all served with chunky sourdough toast and fried tomatoes. If sweet is more your thing at breakfast, and you feel like indulging, it will be hard to go past the pancakes with double cream. There is also muesli, fruit and yoghurt, banana bread and chocolate croissants. Wash it all down with coffee or a fresh berry smoothie. The best bit is watching the snorkelers, paddle-baorders and scuba divers do their thing, while listening to the waves crash against the rocks at your feet.

Between Manly Beach and Shelly Beach is Fairy Bower — Sydney’s answer to the Mediterranean. Famed for its marine park, Fairy Bower(or ‘The Bower’ as locals call it) is paradise on a sunny day. Fairy Bower is also home to the Bower Restaurant. The restaurant is beach chic — you’ll want to slip into your swimming cozzie after your fine dining experience. The cuisine is ‘Modern Australian’ with a focus on seafood for the lunch menu. If you want a taste of the Bower Restaurant but the ocean is calling your name then pop around the side to the newly opened kiosk. Order yourself a take away ‘battered fish, chips, salad and aioli’($ 15). If you perch yourself close by a waiter will bring it over, complete with napkin and silver cutlery. This is experience is one of the best in Sydney and a must try.
