I tended to get hungry at a very bad time, the closing time, so we pushed ourselves inside pretending to have no idea that it is closing time. So before these guys change their minds and politely say«sorry we’re closed» or «we don’t have that left» I randomly said Biryani and of course an Indian restaurant isn’t if it does not do Biryani(to me at least) and we ordered the lamb version. However, our food was very very over spiced(even to an Indian standard) and the rice was stuffed in spices, some of them being of even a different colour(orange) and just overall too much spice. I hope there is a better consistency of spices in their other dishes, or maybe it is that people just like it as is but for me it was just too much. Still, I did not hate the Biryani, mainly because I’ve had Biryanies that were so good they make up for this one being not as bad. I really liked the effort and service of the staff towards us.

While we’re yet to experience dining in at Taj Palace, we’ve had take away a few times and are consistently happy with the service. The food has always been good and the staff are eager to please and willing to answer any questions. My understanding is that the business changed hands fairly recently(6 – 8 months ago) and the new owners are working hard to develop a good reputation in the growing neighbourhood. So far, they’re doing just fine :)

Given the large Indian and Sri Lankan populations in Lynbrook it’s no surprise that some pretty good Indian cuisine can be found here. The décor and atmosphere is nothing special but the staff are friendly and the food is quite good. We’ve found ourselves coming back for takeaway several times now.
