I can keep quiet no longer, Having had poor experiences in the past and knowing that there are better cafes in the area(that says a lot because the cafes in the area leave a lot to be desired), I avoid it like the plague. Several times in the last two weeks, we’ve had our house open for sale and as such have run to closest café for ½ hour. We did try elsewhere, Ciao Down on the Hwy and the cafes at East and West Lindfield, but all were full or there was no parking. All visits remind us of why we don’t go there. Terrible service(tables was wiped down 3 times but then no once came to take our order), bad coffee, bad food(scones where like playdough and fizzy, jam was just cottees, cream was under whipped and the ham and cheese croissant was so salty it was almost inedible) and the inside, with no soft furnishings, was very loud. And it was overpriced. I will admit I’ve had some alright brunches over the years(not in recent ones), but the meals are huge and you pay for them being so big. I think the big attraction for a lot of people is the shop-a-docket, two for the price of one or ½ price for the second– you can print these off the net and the fact that the other cafes are normally full.

There’s not many places in Lindfield and the prices reflect this. Not cheap for a fairly standard suburban café. Baulked at paying $ 17 for a lunchtime sandwich and had a pleasant, if overpriced, scones with cream and jam. Coffee is okay.

Overpriced, poor service and meh food. Brunch in suburbia — not the best.

Being that I used to live in Lindfield, walking through the parking lot behind the shops(not on the highway side) to find a café was kinda nostalgic … Tablespoon is, in comparison to the average café, massive. Though even with the extra tables it seems to have no issues attracting the locals. With friendly service and good coffee I can see why it is a hit. And the coffee really is good. Yes my dbl mac was over espressed(though amazingly not bitter) and there was too much milk, but nothing excessive. BUT … if I am not paying the Macquarie tax for airport coffee… paying $ 4.30 for a dbl mac is a bit rich. A hotspot for North Shore mums, TableSpoon Lindfield screams coffee break after the weekly grocery shop. With a menu list to rival a 700 page book, you are guaranteed to find something to enjoy. Famous for its coffee, make sure you stop by even if it’s for a quick cappuccino of Macchiato. Tablespoon sells its delectable coffee beans to us mere mortals at very reasonable prices. One downside are the busy mornings, calling for slower service. Obtaining a menu can be hard to come by, with patrons vying for the waitress’s attention. On the upside, the service is consistent with the menu proffering plenty of variety. Unfortunately, Tablespoon is not open for business in the evenings. While the café/restaurant may look a little dull from the outside, the layout is actually very spacious and welcoming inside!
