I have eaten here a few times and quite enjoyed it however this morning I sat down and waited. Table service is advertised and there were only 5 other people at tables who already had food. I waited for 10mins and was not attended to so left.

WellCo Café… what a random great find! i first tried this café last year… after running the bay run, my mate and I were looking for somewhere close by to eat, but not go all the way in the city, so we decided to check out Norton street as there are so many great restaurants and cafes in the area. We got to WellCo and decided to check it out. Such a great find! Now there are two dishes i love to eat for breakfast — a good eggs benedict or a hot pot. For all you non-hot-potters, a breakfast hot pot is a baked dish filled with red sauce, poached eggs, sausage, onion, tomatoes and sometimes sprinkled with cheese. It generally comes with a side of bread that you can dip in the hot pot as you eat it. Its usually baked in the oven, however, i know some restaurants just let the small pan sit on top of a stove and cook it that way. However, either way, i’m sure it tastes as delicious! but anywhhhoooooooooooooooo… WellCo have the best hot pot i have ever tasted in Sydney(was that a big call… cz yep, i just made it!). When i eat an italian hot pot the best thing that comes out of that is the sauce and the sausage. The sauce makes such a big difference to the entire dish! But most hot pots are italian hot pots. This hot pot was a Moroccan hot pot so a mixture of different flavours like tumeric, cardamom and pepper; and very sweet! Maybe thats why i enjoyed it because of that sweet napoletana sauce taste! What i loved the most was the sausage they used! you can definitely taste that it was good quality chorizo! now imagine all that shizzzzzzzz mixed with the oozing egg yolk and have bread dipped in a pond filled with greatness! yup… i went there! and yes i actually went back there a few times after this very day! :-) Some sausages in the hot pots that i’ve tried in the past have been under-cooked(maybe because they don’t cook the sausage before they shove it in the oven), but their sausage and entire dish was cooked just right :-) I must admit, i was not too overly excited once i started drinking their juices. It wasn’t sweet enough and it just had a bit more ice than expected and was very pulpy! don’t like my pulp! However, all in all it was definitely a good dining experience. Staff were very friendly, great location, outside and inside tables, not good for groups unfortunately(overall its quite a small café)…first café in leichardht that is getting into that lucrative hipster market… quite impressive for the area. Happy Unilocaling!

Great little brunch and lunch spot. Staff were really friendly and the food was surprisingly good. I had the tofu scramble which was super delicious. My friend ordered the corn fritters which were also good. Only negative was that the guacamole with the fritters was actually avocado dip, not fresh guac. Definitely heading back here soon !

Lost for words… SOYUMMY! I tried the grilled tofu with gluten free bread this morning along with a side of avocado. This was honestly the best breakfast I have ever had. The soy chai is really yum too. My husband had the Mediterranean plate and it was a perfect balance of olives, Danish feta, avocado and eggs. I highly recommend this place! P. s. not sure what Kylie was talking about as there are numerous vegetarian and vegan options and the staff are more than accommodating.

WellCo is Leichhardts first attempt at breaking into the lucrative hipster market. On the surface it appears to work quite well, the minimalist décor and communal tables draw my inner indie towards the door and with one glance around the drinks served in jars and meals served on chopping boards made me want to stay. The problem with wellco is, once you get beyond aesthetics there isn’t much more. With minimal gluten free, vegetarian and virtually no vegan options(with the exception of a leafy green salad) there isn’t much that will appeal to the taste buds of the discerning customer. In their favor, they do make a delicious(bon)soy chai frappé and provide tabasco hot sauce on request.
