Hidden away on the corner of Lords Rd and Flood St is this little gem of a café. This was our first meal back in Australia and Carousel was a perfect choice! Had an egg cooked in a baby pan with feta, caramelised onions and toasted pine nuts which was so yum. Staff are really friendly and the place has a really relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

Great spot for coffee and food, convenient parking and a haven for kids. They do a very nice sensory lab coffee. The staff were attentive and courteous. They even custom made some off-menu soft meals to accommodate my post-surgery diet. Will definitely come back, hungry for more.

Wow, loads of kids. We were planning on eating here, but I arrived early and scouted the place out and decided against — just due to kids and heat. I can highly recommend the milkshake — oh my god so good on a hot day. Tried the coffee as well and found it good — there are a few options in Leichhardt for good coffee, but not that many and this is one of them. I like the fact that you can get seats up against the windows and watch the world go by. We’ll probably try again when colder weather hits.

Nice Sensory Lab coffee, very friendly service. My eggs with caramelised onions, feta and pine nuts, with a side of avocado and a grainy sourdough toast was very good. But what impressed me the most was their babyccino and strawberry nutella bruschetta on a slice of brioche loaf. :) My daughter loved it.

Flood St Carousel is a family friendly Leichhardt café. They don’t have too many tables(room for prams) and they have books and toys on hand for extra entertainment. Even a DVD exchange! When we came here it was an unusually hot March day and it was pretty steamy inside, notwithstanding their efforts to cool the place down with fans and some kind of portable aircon thing. The food is excellent, and quite rich. Our group ordered a mix of salads and sambos and sweet stuff. They don’t skimp out in the avocado, which was great to see, and the sandwiches are generous. My friends shared a ludicrous looking banana split, which involved blue fairy floss, hundreds & thousands, and fluoro pink strawberry sauce. They mighta felt a bit sick afterwards, but it looked incredible. Flood St Carousel also lets you indulge in things like strawberries & Nutella on croissants. Yep. That’s something you can do here. And we did. And it was messy. Sadly — not open on Sundays … This place gets more weekday business from mums and dads.

Superb coffee, and some amazing breads that are a treat to the senses. Not a lot of tables(5!). Some really unique meals. I had the free-range eggs with feta, caramelised onion and pine nuts — would definitely recommended it.

This is a nice new café in the Petersham/Leichhardt area. It’s a really great place to take your kids, as there is a carousel horse in the entry for them to jump on and a bunch of books and toys that they provide. Great ambiance with lots of windows and posters detailing upcoming art/music/films coming to Sydney. The food was great — a giant piece of French toast with a delicious rhubarb jam is highly recommended. The egg in a pan was good too, but a bit over-cooked. Cash only.
