Had a great night out at this restaurant tonight! We ordered six different dishes and then all had a fair dip into the various bowls. Yum! The salt and pepper squid was delish — the pieces were so tender that they could be cut with a fork. There ain’t one complaint about the food at all. Well done !

This restaurant is set in the little Asian strip in Joondalup. Having a variety of foods and specialising in BBQ. It has some pretty nice food even the fried rice is really good. The down fall for me was the duck now I used to love BBQ duck, the crispy skin and tender meat and that flavour, oh my, delicious! Unfortunately the duck from here is a bit of a let down. I think maybe my expectations where too high after having duck in other restaurant like the one in Northbridge. The skin wasn’t crispy and the meat was chewy. A real shame as other wise it is pretty good.

Joondalup BBQ Chinese Restaurant is one of the three Chinese restaurants located on Davidson Terrace. As its name suggests, Joondalup BBQ focuses on barbequed meat, and in particular, roast duck. While it is useful for those wanting roast duck to have an alternative to driving into the Perth CBD, unfortunately Joondalup BBQ is disappointing. The duck is boney, tough and the skin is not crispy. The roast pork is similarly disappointing, with a lack of fat and overuse of sauce. The décor of Joondalup BBQ is cheap and low-rate. While many Chinese restaurants feature some appalling décor, at least they make it up with quality food. Joondalup BBQ, on the other hand, does not. There are much better alternatives to Chinese roast meat than Joondalup BBQ. It is worth the extra journey into the Perth CBD for quality food, rather than this restaurant.
