Just… Not very good at all. Poor service, disinterested staff, dirty tables, slow preparation and subpar food. About 2−3x more expensive than it really should be. Really, you’d be better off just going to Nandos next door no matter what the dining occasion.

This is my favourite sushi train in Perth. There is always a great selection but staff are happy to make your favourite sushi if it is not on the train. As well as sushi they offer hot mains from Asian cuisine. Service is quick and efficient!

They serve all Asian cuisines and all of the dishes are under $ 20 — score! Our server seemed a little rushed and overwhelmed, and did have to come back to take our order. Teriyaki chicken — average Drunken noodles — delicious. Macorons — great Would recommend if you’re looking for something quick, but also has lots of options.

Good in peak times, rubbish during off-peak. Weekdays lunch you can get some good Thai(soups and stir-fry), Japanese(sushi or the typical meat and rice, like teriyaki beef) or Vietnamese(soups and other typical foods). However weekends during the day when they are a little quiet the service and quality of the food is lack lustre. The service, kept us waiting excessively long to order, water and coke took 15 minutes from ordering and my dish came out almost 20 minutes after my wife’s. Her sushi was old tasting and disappointing. She has had many lunches there this year and found great service and quality food. As with all my scores consistency is crucial.

Tao is my number one pick for sushi in Innaloo. There are more options and variety on the sushi train compared to others I’ve been to in the area, plus with the addition of the main menu it would be tough not to find something you like. I like that when I’m there with a group of 4 – 5 I feel comfortable enough to choose from the sushi train when everyone else wants to order mains. It’s nice to have a choice of seating options too, from tables and chairs to booths, or sitting in front of the sushi train. The service is not bad, but there’s room for improvement.

How have I never found you before. If you are looking for a quick eat, this is the place to go. They have all your favourite Asian options and a sushi train for those who just can wait(me). I went with a vegetarian and was please to see that almost every menu item had something for her. We had pretty much a selection of everything and were happy with everything, list below: — Tempura vegetables = Great — Prawn Tempura = Great — Sashimi = Excellent — Sushi Train = Excellent I am kind of on a new year diet but the train even featured a selection of desserts, which I am keen to go back and try. We walked out full and for only $ 35 that was a bargain.

Not being here in a couple of years, we decided to go to Tao’s as we were in the area. It’s not bad, but not my fave sushi train either. I have been the other places that are cheaper with a better variety. On the variety note, it is massive, but with the«basic» stuff(chicken katsu, tuna roll etc). When I go to sushi trains, I like to sample things that I can’t get at the local food court sushi shop. There was a few Salmon dishes but they had the same feel to them and were a little over priced. What they do have a huge range of is desserts. There was a mix of Asian and western options that I didn’t know what to choose! I went with the oversized maccaron(not Asian but come on… over sized maccaron!!) And was a little underwhelmed. If we go back I want to try the As a in puddings.

Great food, service and prices. I have been coming to Tao for years and never been disappointed. Been to the one in Vic Park and Myaree. My personal favourite dishes — Tuna sashimi is always fresh. The Phở Thai is awesome and huge!($ 13) Thai beef salad is superb. BYO if u want to drink alcohol. A real winner in my book! Always leave very satisfied! Well done!

A great respite from the madding crowds on Scarborough beach road. Sushi train is fresh and yum.

Tao is our pre/post movie dinner haunt! I usually go here about once a month — maybe more! This place can get busy but I have never been refused seating, Service initially started off a bit hit and miss when they opened but it has improved and meal orders are taken quickly and food is quick to the table! I have slowly made my way through the menu, my most recent visit I tried the Vietnamese Vermicelli Salad with Beef(Bun Xao), this is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes and I order it often at different places but haven’t had it at Tao — it currently sits number 1 on my list now, it was delicious, very generous and fresh! I will definitely be ordering this one again! Other notable stand outs for me have been the Crispy Chicken and Rice(Com GaChien Don) this comes served with a side soup and is worth ordering just for the delicious soup, the Salmon Teriyaki and the Chilli Fish! I have tried most of the entrees here and they are all also pretty good. Even though I have been here heaps of times I am yet to try the sushi — but I am assured that it is good quality and great tasting sushi, I might have to try it myself on my next visit! Tao is a great place to go if you have fussy eaters there are heaps of options with choices of Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese as well as the sushi train! Meals are very reasonably priced and most times I get out of here for under $ 20.00. Definitely worth the short walk over before or after your movie at Events Cinema!

So I’m a little wary of jack of all trades restaurants that instead of serving one nations cuisine they serve all Asian cuisines, but I was pleasantly surprised by Tao. As usual I tried my friends dishes and all of them were delicious. The sashimi was very fresh, the deep-fried tofu was good, my pad Thai was spot on, the chilli and basil beef was delicious too. A couple of my friends down the far end of the table(out of my reach!) were ohhing and ahhing over their noodle and broth dishes. The interior isn’t much to write home(or on Unilocal) about, but it’s clean and modern. Oh and I forgot one of the most important things — it’s cheap! All the dishes are under $ 20, most around $ 14 and it’s BYO and corkage is $ 4! Oh yes! I’ll definitely be hitting this place up again, I can see it becoming a highly frequented takeout spot.

I’ve just returned from overseas on a super tight budget but hanging for some dinner and drinks with a girlfriend. My friend suggested Japanese at Tao’s café, because its cheap and cheerful and BYO wine. We arrived around 8:30pm on a Friday night and took a bottle of wine. We were greeted by a friendly waiter as soon as we arrived who seated us straight away. The restaurant was spacious and i liked the open modern plan. The waiter quickly brought out plates and wine glasses and explained we can order mains, or help ourselves to sushi train, or do both. I wasn’t too adventurous with the menu, because I had a major craving for Teriyaki chicken($ 11) and when i ordered the waiter let us know it would ready in 10 — 15 mins. While we were waiting we helped ourselves to the sushi train, and grabbed some octopus dumpling balls, and salmon sushi rolls with spicy sauce. The Teriyaki Chicken portion was large and came out quickly and was delicious! My friend ordered vietnamese chicken rice paper rolls. We were both satisfied with our meals and the portion size. And when we split the bill it came to $ 15 each. The wait staff and sushi train chefs were all really cheerful and attentive to their customers. And the best thing of all, service was fast and didn’t cost me an arm and a leg to have some wines and sushi with a friend out at a restaurant. I’m definitely looking forward to going back to Tao’s.

After driving past the restaurant around innaloo we dove into Tao for some late lunch. The service took a while to leave the starting blocks, as it was a good 10 minutes before we had a chance of flagging down a waitstaff. Whilst we waited for entrée to arrive I scoped out the décor. The tree trunk tables we’re a nice addition. Now time for the food. Tasting plate 1: all elements were cooked well, paired with solid sauces. Chicken teriyaki: over cooked and dry in parts, and the sauce was very sickly and probably should have been reduced by half. The standard carrot and lettuce salad on each dish was very limp, as I was able to bend the carrots end to end Satay chicken skewers: very over cooked and tough which was very unpleasant, although the sauce was balanced and didn’t punch you in the face Service lacked throughout the meal with dishes being slid infront of us without so much as a whisper. Overall the food failed to impress and the service was lacking. Unfortunately there was nothing to draw me back. Food 5⁄10 service 4.5÷10 décor 6.5÷10

My partner raves about the Bun Xao(cold noodles salad) and the Tom Yum noodle soup, Pad Thai is not bad. We’ve been there a couple of times with my daughter(2 years old). Can get pretty busy on friday/saturday nights, my mates prawn Tom Yum came without the prawns but that was fixed quickly, some of sushi on the sushi train needs more attention to detail, and the deep fried crab claws are awesome! They do many cuisines but none of them exceptionally well, although it is a great place for quick meal with reasonable prices near home. Definitely give it a go!

I’m a big fan of sushi but in general I’m just not a big fan of sushi trains. I’m yet to go to a sushi train where the sushi tastes half as good as freshly made sushi from a sushi bar or a japanese restaurant. Unfortunately for TAO it’s no different. The rice tastes dry and stale and I just find myself sitting at the train and watching the stuff go by and wondering how long it’s been sitting there. The customer service at TAO is polite and friendly which makes me wish I could say nicer things about the food itself but I can’t. Sorry TAO.

A combination of Vietnamese and Japanese? I beg your pardon? Both of these national foods are renowned for their cuisine, their combinations of ingredients, flavours and long standind success in the Perth food scene. Then to add Thai to the mix? I ask you again… what? Why combine them? Do one thing an do it well. Instead they provide two sub par products. The dishes aren’t necessarily fresh but that could of been due to the time of the day. Even the pictures on the menu and website are uninviting. This strip of restaurants is prime real estate for weekends, located beside Innaloo multiples. A business here should be able to rake the dollars in. I don’t even want to know what the cock-a-doodle is on the kids menu.

They do offer a decent range of dishes from fresh sushi to Thai and Chinese, and some of them aren’t too bad either. My mates Chilli and Basil Beef was pretty damn good actually, and the sushi train had some interesting pieces on it that I hadn’t seen before, but that’s about as far as compliments can go. Luckily for me we weren’t seated near the toilets, because upon venturing to them I realised, with a sudden running of water from my now stung eyes, that the pungent odour coming from there can be smelt well outside the confines of the toilet. Also the chaos of paying my bill at the end left me thinking I’d rather have just surrendered my left arm as payment and walked out. Still, if you’re hunting some sushi — it’s a decent enough place to go. I just wouldn’t venture too far into the dishes on the menu.

The options for a pre or post-movie meal at Innaloo are limited. One of these options is Tao. On the dull shop front and location alone, I would not have given it a second look. I heard a couple of good reports though, so decided to give it a shot. The service took a little while but when our meals arrived, we chowed them down in rapid speed. I had to remind myself to take a breath between each mouthful. I’d venture a guess that this could be owing to chefs covering the food in MSG, that or cocaine. I ordered the vegetarian Bun; cold vermicelli with mixed veg, fresh herbs and a lemongrass, garlic dressing; it was delicious, and vegetarian buns are hard to come by, especially buns with such a variety of fresh and cooked veg on top… but that it probably because this isn’t all that authentic. They serve meals from Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisines and there is a pretty good sushi train that serves sushi a little different, like small avocado rolls wrapped in thinly sliced mango. If you want a decent meal before catching a movie at Innaloo, stick to the sushi train.
