Looking for delicious pizza, a fun vibe and attentive staff? Well, that’s what you’ll get on a Monday at lunch time anyway. The popular pizzeria is part of the café strip along King William Road, Hyde Park, where the vibe is upbeat and casual, all at the same time. The lighting is dim which transposes you to somewhere special… could be in Melbourne, New York or London! The service we received was super friendly, and both pizzas ordered were delivered to our table with clever flavour combinations and beautifully crisp crust. The tapas looked generous and inviting. Didn’t look at the wine list on this occasion, but will peek next time — and there will be a next time, soon!

I went with a group of four on a Saturday night, for a booking at 8pm the place was packed to the brim. Despite how busy and crowded the thin restaurant was, it was warm and cozy, and being seated up the back next to the open kitchen meant it wasn’t too loud that conversation was a chore. The service was excellent, our waiter was very attentive, and furthermore the food came out efficiently despite the crowd. Menu is quite broad with a variety of different pizza and tapas. We all got pizza with the exception of the duck calzone. My pizza was called ‘Puancho’ — pumpkin, mozzarella, anchovies, pine-nuts and pasley oil($ 19). Reasonable price and size for one person. Unfortunately the toppings were not generous, the anchovies and pine-nuts were almost non-existent! There was however, a heap of onion throughout the pizza, not ideal. I think my friends made better choices: potato pizza, lamb pizza and duck calzone. My dish did not leave me wanting more or a desire to return again.

This would be my first choice in Hyde Park for consistently delicious food, small but good wine list, casual yet cool vibe, friendly service and perfect price point. Share a pizza, a few small plates and a salad. Forget dessert though, but if you must end with something sweet, they do have some small choc bites. Takes reservations. No BYO. No highchairs.

Went here with a group of six and booked in for 8:15. The table was ready for us upon arrival and were seated in a decent spot. The waitress was attentive and lovely and the attention to detail I was very impressed with. After the first bottle of wine came Out along with the tapas we were all quite content chatting away and enjoying the wine. It shortly ran out and it had been a good 30 – 40 minutes between the tapas and still no pizza or offer for more Drinks? I assume they over heard us talking about this because it wasn’t Long after that every bring came Out and again everything was fantastic from a food point of view. Dessert pizza followed and was a great finishing touch. Only Downfall for me was the long wait between courses and without a drink In front of us when it wasn’t overly busy. But will defiantly be back :)

Melt is totally the perfect first date place. It’s trendy, but warm and intimate, super cool but not too over the top, and it’s always buzzing with people so you have to get oh-so-close to your date to hear their sweet nothings. Plus, you can show off your adventurous side by having the staff bring out a surprise selection from the tapas menu(pan fried haloumi with pickled red onion is the bomb), share a light and tasty pizza with toppings you don’t find elsewhere(scallop, green pea and spring onion, anyone?), and get a little buzzed from their local beer and wine collection. And if you really want to score(extra points, that is– get your mind our of the gutter!), try the dessert pizza. You’re welcome.

Melt does great pizza, as it should because it is their speciality. The bases are just right, thin enough that they are not over-whelming. My favourite pizzas are the pumpkin and the mushroom. They are unlike normal pizzas, the toppings often have strange variations. For example the mushroom includes an egg and watercress and the pumpkin also has anchovies and pine nuts! I love this as it makes the pizzas stand out from everything else, you are not just having a standard, boring pizza. Although the toppings may sound strange they meld together very well, tasting delicious. The size of the pizzas isn’t particularly large, especially for the price, but one is enough to feed a person. They also have some great tapas and salads, which go well as entrees. You can also get several tapas and a couple of pizzas to share amongst a group, which is what I usually do. The restaurant definitely isn’t large. Last time I went with a group we were squished around a table basically sitting on top of each other. There are always people seating around the bar as well, hence it is very important to book a table.
