History
Established in 2005.
The Kengokan Dojo teaches Shorinjiryu Koshinkai Karatedo and is an official dojo of the Australian Shorinjiryu Karatedo Association, established in 1977. Our classes are focused on training for adults (18+), and incorporate training in classical karate, weapons (bo, sai, jo, etc) and self defence.

Renshi Des, 5th Dan is the head instructor of the Kengokan Dojo, and one of the founding senior instructors of Shorinjiryu Koshinkai Karatedo.
Renshi Des has been training in Shorinjiryu Karate since 1983, and currently serves as the President of the Australian Shorinjiryu Karatedo Association.
Renshi Des spent 2 years living in Japan as a personal student of Hanshi Masayuki Hisataka, 9th Dan, headmaster of Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo. Renshi Des assisted Hanshi HIsataka in teaching seminars in Spain and Switzerland. He also co-wrote a book, Essential Shorinjiryu Karatedo, with Hanshi Hisataka.
Renshi Des is committed to the research and study of the classical karate and kobudo (weapons) methods of Okinawa, Japan and China.
