Yes, this is a basic suburban Deli, but it is so much better than what we used to have and it stocks some really nice middle-European foods. It has a great cheese selection and a range of anti-pasto-type offerings. Sandwich meats there’s quite a wide range including things like smoked salmon and gypsy ham as well as the cheaper cuts including the really cheap devons etc. They sell fresh chicken cuts and I think they sell BBQ chickens. If you want to try something new, they are always happy to give you a taster, and they frequently have a stand out the front selling cannoli or cinnamon scrolls that there’s usually a sample available of too. As a part of their wide range of cheese, they stock the Parmigiano-Reggiano that we use in preference to the less-strong parmesans, and while it’s not cheap, it’s not at the highway-robbery end of the scale either. There’s always soft cheeses on special near the sandwich meat, which I think is how they clear out the cheese well before it’s use by date. Or maybe they just buy a lot to sell cheap. I don’t know. Either way, it’s popular with family members. The staff are friendly and there’s always familiar faces, which is nice in retail which can have a really high turnover of staff. The food is always really fresh and we’ve always found that, with correct storage, our sandwich meat lasts a full week without going slimy. You can’t say that for a lot of other delis

Your basic suburban Deli. For the Americans who may be reading, over here a Deli isn’t somewhere you buy a sandwich, its somewhere you buy processed meats and cheeses and stuff like that. The range is OK. The meats are what you see at pretty much every deli, with the addition of some eastern European stuff which is a little unusual. The Hungarian sausages are really nice. Their cheese selection is great. Lots to choose from.
