I agree with the last review. Was surprisingly empty when my wife and I got here. We walked back by the restaurant later and it was more full, which makes sense because the food is excellent. Standard northern Indian food choices on the menu. I had lamb korma and my wife had the chicken korma. My meal was fantastic. Maybe a little overpriced, but not bad and the food was soooo good.

The place was surprisingly empty for such a highly rated restaurant at 8 pm. The food was so amazing and I left beyond satisfied with my meal. Although a little pricey, it was worth it.

Things seem to have slipped at Mother India recently. It could just be because my eyes have been opened to glorious menus available elsewhere, but I checked in with MI only a couple of weeks ago for a takeaway feast – and was pretty sorely disappointed by the flavours and textures on offer from familiar dishes that I was crazy about twelve months ago. The service I received when I went to pick up my meal was also kinda off. Sorry, MI. It’s not you, it’s me. Or it could be you. I think it’s you.

In my top two Indian eateries in Hobart(Tandoor & Curry House being the other) — we frequent it often. Lovely service, delicious high quality Indian. Great for a take away or eat in — the banquet for two will leave you sated with enough left over for lunch tomorrow!

Was staying in Hobart and had a hunger for some Indian. Unilocalers seemed to recommend this one and they weren’t wrong. Not only was the food delicious, but the takeaway was quick and it was quite cheap. Highly recommended.

Classic little indian restaurants. The sauces of the curries were very subtle(chicken chani and mango chicken). Unfortunately the chicken was low quality, not well cooked(even a bit pink which is a big no no for a restaurant). The naan, roti, raita and gulab jamun were all good but nothing special. Price is about usual for indian restaurants in Australia 25AUD pp. byo corkage fee is 5AUD. All around, a pretty good place but there are probably better options.

This place is so good. I had Chicken Punjabi with Garlic Naan and it was very delicious. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was aces. I went twice in two days.

Great Indian food. Had the lamb with spinach — thought it would be saag, but it was a little different. It was really good(thanks James T.). Well spiced without being too spicy(hot). The garlic naan was terrific. Incredibly freshly made naan. Would definitely go back!

Great food and great service! Complimentary popadums and dip as soon as your seated is a nice touch. Fantastic curries, great naan and lots of food! Must try if you love Indian!

Great food and service. Try the chicken dish. Forgot the name, it was #48 on the menu,

I won’t be exaggerating if I say that this is the best tasting Indian food that I have had for a very long time. The place serves authentic Indian food and it has a very good team of people running the place and they exhibit great hospitality. The spices were just right and we could taste good quality ingredients throughout our dinner. Saves me from searching for an Indian restaurant exactly how I expect it to be during all my future visits to Hobart.

Wow. This just rocketed to the top of my list of Indian restaurants in Hobart. We only had take-away, but the food is fantastic! The restaurant venue seemed nice, the staff were very friendly(even feeding us snacks whilst we waited for our take-aways) and everything seemed spotless. Nice casual atmosphere — stars are for food value for money, not Michelin: P. Great value for money.
