Had a lovely breakfast at Hadleys this morning… food, staff and old world charm all perfect. I’ve not stayed in the hotel but ive always loved visiting for the food and amazing bar… you really get the feeling of steping back in time. The building is absolutely stunning… im the one sitting in the corner of the bar stairing at the ceiling features and paint job.

Absolutely a lovely hotel! From the time I checked in to the time I checked out, I received exceptional customer service! The lobby is welcoming, the ambiance is friendly and the hotel staff are all absolutely lovely! The rooms are a bit small, but I didn’t come for a weekend trip to Tasmania to hang out in my room! The bed was simply amazing! There was a feather topper on the bed which made it feel as though I was sleeping on a cloud! I enjoyed dinner at the bar, one of the best meals I’ve enjoyed in a while! I had a Tasmanian eye filet with mushrooms, asparagus and wedges! The steak was cooked perfectly(medium rare) and was so tender it melted in my mouth! Ordered room service for breakfast and it was equally delicious! I highly recommend Hadley’s for your place to stay when visiting Hobart, Tasmania!!!

The worst experience ever and I would never stay at Hadley’s again! My wife and I booked accommodation for the evening after our wedding. After a very long day and night we got to the hotel to be told we didn’t have a booking. It took nearly 30 mins for them to finally find our name and confirm our booking. They were extremely apologetic and we understood these things happen. But after unloading everything once in our room and taking forever to get all of my new brides hair pins out and getting out of the wedding dress/suit that we had been stuck in for most of the day, we were extremely disappointed and frustrated to find we had no hot water? After all this is a basic necessity that is provided in even the cheapest hotels and we had paid a reasonable amount of money for a room with a spa. We could not get any answers out of reception so decided to forget about it and go to bed as we were exhausted and assumed it would be ok in the morning. No! Still no hot water the next day. What a disaster. After an extremely hectic day/evening, we had to pack up and check out without getting to freshen up at all. We Would have rather just stayed in our own home where we could have at least showered. The manger explained they had an issue with the hot water unit and could not get it fixed overnight, but was not very apologetic. She eventually offered to deduct our breakfast charge. Wow thanks! A free breakfast for ruining what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of our lives. Apart from that experience, the rooms are old and outdated, cramped and small, If the sound of yelling from drunk patrons below doesn’t keep you awake all night then the bells from the church opposite chiming will. Not worth ¼ of the overpriced rate!

As the website says this hotel has a touch of the past and the present, it literally does… there is a 1836 part of the hotel which is kept that way and trust me you’d don’t want to stay there. However the modern setup looks very elegant. I stayed here on a business visit for 5 nights, the rooms are pretty good but it looks like they want to give their guests the impression of they being cash struck. The lady from housekeeping did not think twice before telling us that have run out of soaps and we have to adjust with some body wash. Yes this is what exactly she said :) They say that the guest laundry is present, if you want to use it please be ready to get the feeling that you are washing it in a public toilet with no maintenance. It looks harsh but I am saying exactly what I felt when I entered there. The positive is the food, room service was good and got us some very well done pizza. Overall it’s not too bad for staying a couple of days there but I won’t recommend it if you have other options.

Stayed here on a 3 day trip to Hobart. It has a very quaint, very classic feel to it, and the look they are going for is definitely a «period décor». So if you want quaint charm, this is the place to go. However, they could still have quaint charm with some updated facilities. For instance, they have a TV, but this was very old rear projection TV, with terrible reception/picture quality. On the plus side, they do have a DVD with movies available at the counter, so they must realise the reception is terrible. The room is tiny, no fan or extractor in the bathroom and no windows so forget using the mirror after a shower. The towels are torn and raggedy(I’d seen reviews on tripadvisor state this, but didn’t believe it til I saw it) and the carpets and furnishing in general were in a worn state. I had a selection of dishes from room service. The squid starter was tiny for the price although it tasted good. The pizza breads were dry. Chips were fine and the cheese plate a little disappointing(this is Tasmania… how can you have such a bland cheese plate!!!). It’s in a great location and it has historical and classic charm, but honestly, I’ve stayed in better guesthouses and for the price, you can get far far better.
