Victoria Park Golf Complex

The review is specifically for the driving range only.
The driving range gets quite busy during the night times on Thursday, Friday Saturday. The golf balls available at the venue are outdated and needs to be replaced immediately.
One thing I don’t understand is why do they use these type of golf balls at the range. In the US, they use a brand touch better than what they use and they do carry the yardage you typically hit at the golf course, these are 10 to 15 percent less carry.
Overall the service is OK. Grip service that they provided wasn’t fit properly and the butt end of the grip moves side to side.
I would recommend it if you are in the area of the city but if you can afford the time to drive to another range outside of this one. There are far bette than this one.

Victoria Park golf club would have to be one of the most accessible golf clubs in Brisbane which doesn’t give into the pomp & snobbery of a typical golf course — they make it fun for everyone — and today was no exception.
The «Ladies come try Day» was a great little mixer and gave a great incentive to women to really get amongst the corporately acceptable game of the scots.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and were directed to the ladies only events area and given a delicious assortment of finger sandwiches, moose cake and of course some tasty vino to sample. How much fun is golf!
In addition, we were also given a goody bag and a ladies golf glove to help is through the days events which included workshops on driving with a wood and iron, as well as getting our short game sorted too with the pros.
Wonderfully organised and a sport I now will consider taking up socially — esp cause there’s wine + socialising whilst in action.

Somehow even though I’m not a fan of golf, I’ve ended up here on numerous occasions. That putt-​putt course, let me say, is highly confusing. It’s a maze of winding paths and hilly greenery that proves exceptionally hard to navigate after a few drinks, let alone a lot of them; some of which you have to pass through the golf shop in order to reach. That gets very complicated. Still, I think Victoria Park is a great site for functions and events, the most recent I attended being a friend’s 21^st party.
You get your own little area in which to cause ruckus with catering and bar options to go with it. I honestly do like the venue, even if it proves difficult to find exactly what room your function is in, seeing as there are so many.
But my real fondness for Victoria Park dates back to ye old grade 11 when my school hosted our grade’s semi formal here. It was a really nice night; the function room we had was decked out in black and really nice and simple. Thankfully, we also got a room that had a balcony we could abscond to in order to fly under the radar and avoid teachers.
I’ve had a great time here whenever I’ve had the pleasure of attending a function in one of its rooms, even if I get hopelessly lost trying to find specific locations.

I’ve done the mini-​golf and the driving range at Victoria Park Golf Club, and I’ve attended a wedding and a work party in the function rooms, and I think this is a great place to hold a function or to have some laughs with friends while you hone your golfing skills. The city views from the decks of the upstairs function areas are amazing, and give a very metropolitan feel to the area despite it being a little out of the CBD.
The mini golf is a great activity to share with friends. We worked our way around the course, UDLs in hands, and had a great time. We lost track of the score eventually… I don’t think winning is necessarily the aim of mini-​golf. We then moseyed on over to the driving range to compare skills, which was also great fun. It’s certainly something a little bit different to the usual nights out, and a change is as good as a holiday.

Always a fan of a competitive match of putt putt, I was [very willingly] dragged along to play with my pro golf friend.
We set ourselves up with all the necessary equipment available for hire from the pro shop (clubs, tees, pencil & scorecard) and the essentials (beers).
The putt putt coure is quite large, so it’ll take you a good couple of hours to get around and several rounds of beers with that. The course starts off easy, which was rather unsettling for my pro companion and a massive ego boost for myself. Until the holes became increasingly challening, frustration kicked in and I lost… by quite a lot too. Losing aside, it’s a great course and the location is stunning. It’s best to head here in the late afternoon and watch the sun set over the city.

I’m not a golfer or even a putt-​putter, far from it really. But I’ve been here to hang out with a mate, who wants to get into golfing. The idea of golfing, for him, has some sort of connection to superiority and class. Something the both of us clearly lack. Yet, here we came to hang out with the best of em.
As we walked in I felt automatically out of place there. Perhaps it was me, preempting judgement and laughter from the professionals who I assumed would be there. I lined up anyways to get my stick to hit the ball. Golf club, is it?
Oh the sheer embarrassment. The guy at the counter looked at me up and down. I thought, «What the?» but the guy was only sizing me up for a golf club. I’m really petite, which made it hard… I needed kids golf clubs evidently and not just that, I am a leftie. The guy chuckled a bit saying, it’s going to be a bit difficult to find me the right club. After waiting for what seemed like ages he found me a club suitable for left handed 10 year olds. Awesome! I laughed it off with the guy, because that’s all you can do in awkward situations.
To my surprise, the place was filled with an array of people. People like me who just came to give it ago, professionals were there of course showing off and intermediates who are working on their craft. I really enjoyed it! I felt no judgement at all, the people were nice and the view at night from the driving range was the beautiful city skyline.

I’m not a big golfer personally. I enjoy wacking a bunch of balls at a driving range and judging by a Tuesday night at 7pm, so do a bunch of other people. It’s a stress thing, I suppose. In any case, the Victoria Park Golf Complex is not just a golfing club. It’s a restaurant, function centre, driving range, putt putt course and a generally nice place to visit on occasion.
If you’re not the typical golfing variety (polo shirt, golf pants, deck shoes etc) then the staff can look their nose down on you a bit. There’s adequate parking for any occasion and they always seem to have some event on. If golf is your thing, then you should definitely check out Vic Park.
