Came here on a Sunday morning for breakfast. The staff member seating people(unshaven chubby guy, wearing glasses that had red arm pieces) was incredibly rude to everyone coming in. Café was very busy and he just couldn’t handle it, he should have stayed in bed. He gave sneering looks to customers that were waiting to be seated particularly if he had to wait behind them or if they were in the doorway. Other guests asked to be seated at a different table and he walked off because he had to «carry some food»… Apart from the crap service the food was quite nice. Won’t be back but by the looks on the faces of the others he was«serving»(if you can call it service) they won’t be returning either. Here’s a tip for the chubby bearded guy at the door — If you want to be in a customer service environment then serve the customers, they’re the reason you’re in business. Guess he never learnt that lesson.

Our visit was for a Friday night dinner with the kids and we found the food was nice but service was patchy. Walking in we spied a few empty tables and waited for the«concierge» to welcome us and suggest tables, etc but he was chatting to another staff member, something he found more interesting than actually serving us. My wife had to ask him which tables, he suggested any one we wanted and gave us a menu. Wehad two menus b/w us with no kids menus: these were produced later by the attentive waiting staff. It soon became apparent the two young waiting staff were really good but chubby, bearded guy out front was a complete waste of space; not a good start Stellas. Food was nice but not great. Had a bit of a rundown feel with cleaning products lying around and tables scratched with no table cloths. Sounds like breakfast is a better time to go and gives you great views I’m sure. Not a great place but it could be with a spruce up and a new concierge. Not likely to go back for many years given the multiple options available there.

After a morning walk along the beach, I’m in desperate need of a cuppa and breakfast. While many flock to Zoots like moths to a flame, this little moth has been burnt too many times by substandard service and barely edible food served at Zoots. We’re usually served by one of two wait staff. Both are awesome, both remember I’m vegan and both serve us like they want to be there at 10am on a Sunday. The chef prepares butter-free mushrooms for me and loads up my plate with spinach and avocado in place of my eggs. The green tea is a honey dew melon blend and it’s sen-bloody-sational. The dogs are treated to a bowl of water and a few pats. Because they’re always with us when we’re here, we sit outside but the inside always looks so cosy. One day, we’ll come down without the dogs and sit inside by the big picture frame windows overlooking the beach. We were as surprised as you’ll be when you try this place for the first time. It’s now our fave restaurant on the Square.

Had a very nice evening meal watching the sunset with two mates. Folks were nice enough to allow us to drink a lovely bottle of ’02 Mitolo Reiver that we got from a local bottle shop in Adelaide. Great views and easy access using the public tram from downtown Adelaide. All in all, an easy and fun evening out on the coast.

Dining at Stella is a lovely experience. With fantastic views of Henley Square and Henley Beach, there is always something nice to look at. Good value Mediterranean meals for decent prices, it is quite a popular destination for restaurant goers. The burger I ordered was so massive, it took great strength for me to get it into my mouth… But well worth it. With a full bar, it’s a very relaxing and refreshing place to have a meal.

I thought I knew everywhere to get a good breakfast in Adelaide, until friends(and fellow bacon-lovers) took me to Stella at Henley Beach last week. We were pretty late(by normal people’s standards) for breakfast, getting there just after midday, but the lovely staff let us order from the breaky menu even though it was supposed to be last orders by 11:30am. They were super lovely and attentive the whole way through. I ordered the bacon and scrambled eggs with a bunch of different sides and my friends both had custom orders as well — they were quite happy to let us mix and match as we needed and it all came out just as ordered. The coffee also gets top marks. The atmosphere was pretty chilled and casual, with sweeping sea views and an open, light space with plenty of room and lots of windows to make the most of the hot summer day. There was a large group of mums with prams and babies while we were there and there was plenty of room for everyone. A perfect place for long chats over flat whites aplenty. Will definitely be back. Yay for Stella! Yay for breakfast! Yay for the beach!
