There is a significant difference in seating that they offer here. These room are separated per party. They have upscale room with elegant furnishings and table settings. Then there’s the cold no personality rooms. You know where you stand on the social ladder soon as you walk into one of these rooms lol. A $ 600 minimum for 6 people and this is the room we received. How do I know about the different rooms? We arrived and every employee was absolutely clueless as to where we were seated. We were wrongfully placed in a nice room. Settled in ordered drinks and were then told to then relocate. This is after another party came in angry that we were seated in their room? Nothing stands out about any of the food items. ABSOLUTELYNOTHING. We ordered one bottle of white wine and were each given different glasses. Some were served wine in water glasses?! For the price you pay, I find it embarrassing. Service and was absolutely poor. Can’t count how many times we asked for something more than once. Can’t count the minutes we waited for each and everything we asked for. You see the servers coming up the escalators with the courses. That’s the first problem. Not coming back, do not recommend.

Atmosphere and general décor was great, and the food was quite well done, except for the Fish Head soup, which was way too salty and had a strong fish smell. However, what really disappointed me with this place was the abysmal service. We waited for about 15 minutes before anyone came up to take drink orders. It was also really hard to attract the servers’ attention. Towards the end of the dinner, we ended up waiting for this one dish for about 20 minutes. After enquiring after it, turns out that they didn’t even have that dish that day! The server completely forgot to let us know. Probably won’t ever come back here again.

When my friend offered me to go with her as her date to her review of this place I jumped at the chance and kept bouncing for a while after as I had no idea what to expect from this gem. But now I do and I’ve bookmarked so many other items on the menu to go back and try, however let me walk you through the place. The ground floor is the entrance where there’s a lovely lady waiting to check your name and take you upstairs to be seated. The resturant spans 2 levels, the middle level that you’re lead up to is for general dining where there is no minimum spend but will look at setting you back about $ 60+ depending on what you order. Usually this place pulls a crowd as they do wholesome Chinese food that isn’t westernised in most dishes. Huge draw card there m’dears! The level above the 2nd level is apparently suites where people are able to book for bigger groups, they have their own kitchens and usually a chef will prepare the food in the room with the guests. Bare in mind that to book one of these rooms will set you back about $ 1000 minimum spend. We were lead into a room that looked like a scene from Kill Bill. It’s all woods, carved, beautifully lush carpet when you walk on you feel yourself bounce a bit from the cushioning. The lights are beautifully light yet not too bright. Seating is a bit cozy, the chairs are like mini couches, very comfy! The tables are varying sizes with many sized to accomodate families and bigger groups. There were a few tables that were 4 or less seating. We sat at a bigger round table with 5 people and there was probably room for a good 5 more. Amy, the marketing lady, walked us through all the various dishes she wanted us to try. She was a great host and the quality of the food that came out was faultless. We had a wide variety of things from a broth to start with, to a duck wrapped around a salty egg… we had 9+ grade wagyu where you get a small hot plate and get to cook your own. The great bit about the menu and waygu choices is that you can order in 50g lots, so that 9+ grade wagyu that was out of your reach is now well within reach. And oh so juicy, it melts in your mouth. Holy cow, eat eat! There was a thinly sliced fried potato dish that was served with the crab that I would have happily have eaten a whole bowl of. It was salty and with some herbs in it that caused your tongue to go numb. LOVE! We also had a wonderful crab dish that was spicey yet you couldn’t stop eating it. I waved to our alive crab before I ate him, he waved his legs back at me. I think he was trying to tell me in crab speak that he was juicy, because he was. The tiny bread rolls you got with the crab rounded this dish off as you lapped up the crab sauce left over. We then moved onto a wagyu rice dish. There were bits of deep fried rice in it. It crunched. This delighted us no end and we giggled as we ate. If you go here you have to try the MouTai cocktail. It’s not strong at all and was smooth and flavourful. The lycée cocktail was just as delishous. They have some great entry level wines to try too. Back to the food however, we were then presented with a hot pot in the middle of the table. Lamb and tofu. Salted to perfection. The broth I would have happily taken home to have as soup for the rest of the week. Infact we were advised that a lot of customers did exactly that with their left overs as this is apparently a winter dish that is very traditional so they were rather surprised that we liked it as it can be a bit challanging on a western palate and the reason why it wasn’t in english on the print out slid inside the menu. We ended the evening with some maccaroons that were red pepper and green tea. Divine. I had to be rolled out of the place. So much food. So much yum. Would I go back as a paying customer? You betcha. The wait staff know their stuff and the atomsphere and food deliver in bundles. Go in and try something different. I dare you.
