Having moved to Brisbane to be with my boyfriend(we’re talking soulmate material here, full soaring soundtrack, wind-in-the-hair lovestory involving a massive move two states away) I had to find myself a chiropractor. I had experienced patchy spinal care throughout my life but nothing so amazing that I wanted to continue seeing any particular practitioner. That was until my partner recommended his chiropractor. He had been seeing him weekly for years and had nothing but great things to say about him. You see my man is a dentist. He’s bending over looking into people’s mouths all day every day, and as a result he requires constant spinal adjustment and care. There’s little hope being in the job he’s in, that he will be able to function well without ongoing treatment. I booked in to see Nic and the team upon my first recommendation and found the whole premise to be bright, clean and very professional with extremely up-beat and friendly staff. Nicholas Armitage is himself a consumate professional at what he does. From the initial consultation he kept me informed about what was happening with my spine and what kind of care would work best for me. His adjustments are fast and painless and I always walk out feeling more flexible and almost like«the lights have been switched back on». My sleep, standing, walking, exercising, breathing, menstrual pain, headaches and general sense of energy and wellbeing have all improved as a result of my regular treatments, Initially I was booked in the same as my partner, for weekly treatments. As my spine improved we were able to adjust my timetable to fortnightly visits. This is something that I love about Hawthorne Chiropractic — the emphasis on reducing the amount of treatment you need and actively working to Repair and Restore the spine throughout your journey. Now, having seen Nic and the girls for 6 years now I can say they are more than just the very best chiropractic practice I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, they are also firm friends. I would recommend them to anyone. Even if you have occasional pain or stress in any area of your body, Nic can help. Oh, and yes. I’m still madly in love with the man I moved to be with. :)

A disclaimer: I am not a patient(yet), but I am writing as the spouse of one and am now writing based on personal observation. After several months of nag-, no, strike that, expressing concern to my husband regarding his back complaints(he, after all, does back-breaking work in the construction business), I was able to convince him to see a chiropractor instead of a Thai massage therapist. Okay, Thai massages feel AMAZING, but lets be real, I think being properly diagnosed and treated would be the way to go in getting optimized health and reducing back/spine issues. Anywho, back to Hawthorne Chiropractic: Dr Nicholas Armitage is the doc here. He is charismatic and have excellent bed-side manners. The office is family friendly, kids can play at the«kiddie corner» which is really just a small table with kids books and wooden toy trains and tracks — very cute. Dr. Armitage likes(and I appreciate) taking a through health history and X-rays to see what’s going on in the body before making any actual adjustments. After a couple sessions(so far — it’ll be an on-going plan), I am seeing some improvements in my husband’s posture and in his over-all health.
