I would say that Petaling Street is about 2 stars for the general restaurant quality. However, because of the cheap prices I’m going to be a nice person and bump it up to 3. Customer Service: A bit«meh». I didn’t want to say anything bad about the customer service because the people were genuinely really nice! They smiled and were fairly attentive!(I should note though — I’m not sure if the customer service is genuinely good, or if my fellow Unilocaler who came here with me Tom R. charmed the socks off the female waitresses…) Despite their kindness, I do have to say that the customer service was not good for one particular reason: The food came out at DRASTICALLY different times. We had to wait about 20 minutes after I got my dish for my friend to receive his, then 15 more minutes for the last dish. Because of common courtesy to wait until everyone’s meals arrived, my food unfortunately went a bit cold by the time I ate. Food: Petaling Street is advertised as Malaysian hawker food, but I would say that although it’s authentically Malaysian, it’s not really authentically hawker-style. The food was not as packed with flavour as I would have liked — the spices they used were a bit too overpowering not in the«this is so deliciously spicy!» sense, but in the«I can’t really taste any other flavour». In my opinion, there is a fine balance when it comes to spicing up a dish without sacrificing the taste. — Come here if you’re on a bit of a budget. Although the food is not the best, for an average of 10 dollars maximum per meal(you will struggle to find something more expensive) and decently filling portions, I can’t really complain. If you don’t mind spending a bit extra, I suggest skipping over Petaling Street — the quality is just not really worth your time.
