I have recently looked to start buying goods that are made to last. We were in Hahndorf for Father’s Day and even though I have been to Hahndorf many times, I have never ventured inside this establishment. In fact if it had not started raining I don’t think we would have this time! But boy am I glad I did. Walking in you can smell the rich scent of real leather. No sooner are you through the door than you are offered a small beverage in the way of a glass of port. I am not much for hats or ugg boots, but the belts did interest me. I am always damaging my belts and always wondered why they did not last as I would expect them too. Well I found out as they have a little display on how belts are usually manufactured these days. In the end I got the thickest belt I could find. Yes, I paid a pretty penny for it, but belts, like wallets and good watches should be made to last a lifetime, not a season. An unusual thing is that they have these gigantic rabbits at the end of the shop. These rabbits are HUGE and quite docile. We spent about 40 minutes in there and then continued on our way with our wallets a little lighter for the experience, but our experience made better for visiting.

I hardly ever manage to walk past this store without going in. Why? Well, not necessarily because I would buy something in there. John Graham Leathersmiths, as the name suggests, specialises in all things leather. From belts to bags, everything is very cowboy and wild-western themed. They also stock a variety of hats, t-shirts, clothes and some more touristy items like Australian flags. Ah, and don’t forget the cow skin rugs! What I like about this shop is that it’s very themed and makes you feel like you’re in a different world. Wooden floors and walls, staff wearing cowboy gear, a rabbit enclosure at the back of the store(that’s probably also why it smells slightly strange), country music. And everytime I’ve been here someone offered me a glass of port. Now, that’s what I call service!
