The Organik Store

This place is very popular on a Saturday morning!
What I liked the most about this place was the menu. There are quite a few breakfast options more eccentric than the standard eggs and bacon. What I really appreciated was the make your own breakfast option; choose your eggs (fried/​scrambled/​poached) and choose your sides (ranging from bacon to avocado, cheese etc).
I enjoyed the food thoroughly, I ordered a breakfast rosti which was very satisfying although I have to say it was served a bit too cold. I also ordered a blue Jean baby juice which was as good as I expected it to be.
The place had a nice vibe and although I enjoyed my meal my partner was very disappointed with his burnt coffee.

Organik store is my favourite go to Café on a Saturday morning after a bike ride. They cater to the gluten free and vegan types along with having free range eggs and catering to a number of allergies.
You can order breakfast all day on the weekend, but you also have the choice of the delicious lunch items. Making for tough decisions. Do I get the veggie burger with one of their awesome super-​super food salads, or the cheap yet delicious avocado tomato and basil on sourdough for only $ 11.50 and you get pretty much a whole avocado. yum. I would also highly recommend the Organik eggs on toast, it’s only $ 10.50 and you can get sides galore to make your own big breakfast spectacular.
Alongside your healthy and delicious breakfast you can order either a super-​foody juice, smoothie or delicious coffee. The coffee comes with a number of different milk choices including freshly made almond (do it try it! even if you are normally a dairy type person) they also have bonsoy, coconut and quinoa milks.
There are a number of different juices with different benefits such as the cold-​killer, the happy juice and the immune booster. The smoothies are somewhat more decadent toting names like the big Kahuna (LSA, bananas, dates) and the Orange Glow (Goji Berries, Orange, and coconut water).
The service here is usually excellent with the staff letting you know which items will suit your allergy and which will work with you ethical eating needs. A few times have been a little hit and miss with the person at the till not really understanding the need for a lack of peanuts in the blender if my friend was to order a smoothie from said blender. But we got there in the end and no nuts got near her. but like I said they are usually really good about all your special needs in relation to food!

The Organik Store is a little off the beaten track in Glenelg. It’s busy and loud with cement floors, but friendly and accommodating staff and the food make up for it.
I ordered the spicy tomato soup which was warming and had a good flavour and came with a slice of toast with butter on the side. (Top points for putting the butter on the side and letting the customer decide how much butter to use!)
They were happy to give me a mug of warm water to heat a baby bottle without any fuss and friendly. The only drawback on a freezing day is that it is an old shop and the door swung open, randomly freezing patrons.
Check out the store next door for fresh (albeit expensive) organic produce, beauty products and teas etc.

Wonderful experience today at the Organik store café. I’d reserved a table in advance as I had heard it gets busy and I was meeting up with 6 others and two little ones. We just had a marvellous coffee and lunch and the staff didn’t mind we were hanging about for three hours.
The marinated chicken burger was brilliant, the peppermint hot chocolate divine and the service really lovely. The whole group was happy with food and coffees.
It did get busy but the staff coped very well under the pressure of lunch rush.
Also, the store attached… An incredible loose leaf tea range! I took home a box of French Earl Grey and it is heavenly. Great range of organic products in stock too.
Will be back to try a Green Juice, they look fabulous!

I heard about this place along the grapevine of time and travellers alike — but it mostly got my attention due to it being advertised as a place for a quirky cool gig happening — and the combination of word of mouth and photos had me keen as mustard to visit!
Walking in on a weekday, felt like I was visiting on a weekend. It. Was. Busy. The tables most free existed outside in the not-​so-​warm winters windy day. However — grow yourself some female parts and brave it outside — and you get a cool blanket to snuggle yourself within. I opted out of this. So the decision was to get food to go because the brain didn’t want to have to deal with the hip and happening world called «other shift workers/​studens/​hipsters/​earthy land lubbers». Only, a word to the wiser — don’t try and order new things when you are rather borderline gnawing the leg of someone seated nearby — you will buy more than you need.
Originally it was a large coffee. THEN I saw the Roti with spinach and cheese and foodiness. THEN I saw the minestrone soup on special. THEN I saw the raw lemon cake. THEN i saw the ginger beer with cool 70s retro label. Nearly forty buckaroons later, I was armed with my goodies of goodness that lasted me two meals — and included free garlic bread (read the rest of the menu, derr!) a free t-​shirt too!*
Now, don’t demand your food arrive 78 seconds after your petit-​or-​not-​so-​petit derrière lands on your chair. Who really wants that? I mean, if you order a coffee and get it within a minute later — do you not think about why it was so fast? Ah — old milk? Cold shot? Made by a machine? Was formerly the barista’s dregs cup that you just got served with a side of someone else’s mouth juices? No. Oh no. So surely you would expect homemade, organic, tasty, REAL food to not come out so fast. Right? Its like the places that don’t use microwaves. You are actually getting a better meal than the ones that come too fast.
I was very pleased with all that I had purchased. The coffee was amazing! The Roti was yummy as! The soup was super delish. The Raw Lemon cake was spectacular. The ginger beer made me feel good.

One of my fav Sunday breaky destinations. I can go a coffee, green juice (detox is my juice of choice), breaky (I often opt for the delicious option on the special board) and sit here all morning. feel comfortable dinning alone or plenty of room to go in a group… if you are keen to sit outside and there is not much sun they provide some super worm rugs for you.
I have also done my weekly veg shop in the store that joins — have great selection of organic veg, fruit, herbs and also a range of health food that I find to be competitively priced.
Love the organik goodness this store provides…

Chicken wraps are awesome, avoid the protein shakes though, they taste horrible and are served lukewarm.

I’d heard about this place through a couple of good friends, so, confronted with a day off after my morning swim, I figured I may as well start my day of leisure off with a some delicious brekky.
The Organik Store is broken into two parts, an out and out mini organic supermarket, and a homely and inviting organic café. I wandered in and was immediately greeted by the lovely lady who was working there, placed my order for some poached eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, and a latte and sat down to read the paper.
The ambiance in the place is sensational — low level background music soothes you into a state of relaxation, and the smell of all the produce/​coffee gets your belly rumbling and mouth watering in anticipation!
My food arrived and it was absolutely delicious. Toast perfect, Eggs perfect, mushrooms — tasty, tomatoes — seared to perfection. Oh and my coffee was brilliant too.
The Organik Store has a range of Vegetarian and Vegan options on the menu, and I will be recommending it to every single person I see within the next 12 – 24 hours. Do yourself and your body a favour and get there!

Woah there, what a little surprise tucked away in Glenelg! My partner had shopped there previously, so took me there for coffee — so glad I tried it!
Gorgeous coffee, and a magnificent slice of pear and ginger cake — yum! The breakfasts that were coming out looked devine, so I’m looking forward to trying that out too. I also spied some yummy looking wraps and other lunch items on the board. Staff were friendly, and there is plenty of seating — so glad we left before the cyclists arrived though — *shudder* — nowhere is safe from them!!!
We also did a bit of shopping next door in the little organic shop — it’s only small, so the range isn’t massive — but they do stock soap nuts, which I was very impressed with (they are nuts that you use instead of laundry powder — highly recommended!). We also sampled (and bought) some gorgeous sour dough bread made by Small World Bakery, which was delicious.
All in all, this is definitely a place we will visit time and time again — yay!

I really like this store. I haven’t eaten in the café before so I can’t comment on it, but I like the layout and the location. They can be pretty expensive, but that isn’t unusual for organic stores these days. Hoping that will change. One price comparison that shocked me was that they have organic dried turkish apricots for around $ 23 a kg when I was buying them from a shop in Davis, CA for around $ 6 a kg. Hopefully shops like this make organic an option that people will at least think about and that it will lead to changes in expensive organic as the norm. More competition + more demand/​supply = cheaper prices, or so the invisible hand of the markets likes us to think.
Overall, cute store, expensive but not the worst.

The only annoying thing about this shop is the trendy spelling of its name.
Misspelling aside, this is a fantastic store.
The Organik Store sells all the usual good organic vegetables and fine wine (I always stack up on a few bottles), and it also has a fabulous café, which caters for vegans.
I love the Jungle Juice it sells there — a blend of apple, pineapple, banana, and acai berry juices.
But what makes this place really worth a visit is the amazing eggs it sells. The yolks are a beautiful sunshine yellow colour and taste so good when I dip my toasted bread into them. Simple pleasures…
And no wonder the eggs are so good: the store’s own chooks roam around a biodynamically farmed vineyard where they eat organic fruit, vegetables, and pellets.
Another highlight is the awesome chocolate-​coated organic coffee beans. They get your day off to a great start.

Yay! Healthy wonderful Organic goodness. I love this place! It looks like a good organic store should, with lots of baskets and wood and bulk food. From its Aubergine and green colours on the external walls and olde worlde shop front and wooden floorboards, this screams wholesomeness.
Like most Organic Stores the fruit and vegetables aren’t particularly inexpensive but you are paying for produce that is grown with love and care and no pesticides and other crap. If you buy «in season produce» it is quite affordable. It has a good range of organic canned food, supplements, beauty products and dried fruit. My personal favourite is the dried mango, it is to die for. They also stock a good range of breads, from gluten free and specialty grains to classic artisan.
The store also features a fabulous organic Café which makes the most wonderful healthy food, breakfast is especially good and the menu is creative. The coffee is fair trade and there is a great selection of fresh juices and smoothies that taste extra good because the produce used is organic. The other unique thing about this place is that it is licenced so you can enjoy a glass of organic wine if that is your thing.
