J.B. Ware Reserve

I have to admit the first time I noticed this playground I laughed. Significantly. My boyfriend who happened to be with me at the time did too. In other words, it was a total WTF moment, and here’s why:
Picture driving down Port Rush Road and looking to your left only to notice a small dodgy piece of play equipment with a friken cemetery located directly behind it. In full view. No words were needed.
The pictures actually make this park look normal. I really don’t think it is. And in a posh area such as Burnside, well I’ll be darned. Meanwhile the kids were playing happily…

Despite its size, there’s actually a fair bit to do here for the toddlers. The creative play equipment has all sorts of knobs and gears that can be moved, engaging even the youngest of minds into some imaginative play.
There’s a basketball hoop for the older children and quite a decent sized lawn area for running around. It’s set back from Portrush Road and there’s a retaining wall in between the playground and the busyness of the road.
Toilets are located just near the basketball hoop.
Some shade would be nice, but there’s not a lot here apart from what the trees can give you and depending on the time of day, this could be limited. A BBQ and table/​chair area would greatly benefit from some shade/​shelter.
