The Arkaba Bottleshop has saved me many times. No I’m not an alcoholic, but sometimes at 10pm at night you decide you need a drink and nothing is open. Well all hail the Arkaba! It is open until midnight and has a very large range. It’s not one of those small, late night drive-​through bottle o’s, it has everything you could want. Although it is drive-​through, I prefer to get out and decide what bottle of wine I want for my midnight snack.
Apart from their late opening hours and their massive wine selection, the Arkaba wins points for selling Lobo. This is, in my opinion, the best cider ever created. It is an Adelaide Hills cider, but is nowhere near as sweet as other ciders. It tastes more like wine.
The service is also great. Although they do not always approach you immediately, they are willing to help if you ask, or if you have been standing staring at the wine fridge for several hours.

I appreciate you, Arkaba Cellars, because you are open when I need you late at night when Amber and I run out of champagne and life turns black until we get a bottle more.
The wine selection is quite impressive, bit tricky if you’re not sure what you want and there are 30 different labels to choose from in one grape variety; this is when I call on the friendly person behind the counter to help me.
Spirits aren’t too pricey here either which is always a bonus if you’re going to a birthday party and suddenly realise you haven’t bought a present, liquor is a fantastic option, unless it’s a childs birthday of course. Just clarifying.
On the corner of Fullarton & Glen Osmond, cheap and easy, just the way I like em.

Everybody needs their local bottle shop and for me it’s Arkaba Cellars.
As part of the Arkaba Hotel complex on the corner of Glen Osmond and Fullarton Roads, the entrance to the bottle shop is on the Fullarton Road side. It’s a drive through with three lanes, one of which is an express so no need to get out of the car. If you do take the time to get out and have a look around, they have a great selection of wines on offer.
Look for the specials as prices often vary. I find them more reasonable with their prices than the Big W bottle shop and usually manage to pick up a bargain or two … or three … or seventeen. There’s always someone there to offer advice if you need a hand and on the odd occasion they have tastings. The last tasting I was lucky enough to experience was a guy selling his local champagne (or sparkling white as I think we’re now supposed to call it). Having just brushed my teeth (you know how bad champagne and toothpaste tastes) and on my way out for the night I wasn’t in the mood for a taste so politely declined his offer. As I was buying champers anyway, he gave me a bottle of his product to try at my leisure. Great marketing. It worked on me and is one of the reasons I go back there regularly.
They’re open 7 days a week from 9 in the morning and stay open until ‘late’ night.
