In my past life as a teenage try-hard goth, at the height of Fiona Horne’s magickal fifteen minutes of fame, my friends and I would frequent this shop, checking out crystals, buying all kinds of magical stuff and, when funds allowed, having our palms read. There was once quite a few of these kinds of places around town, but it seems they have moved elsewhere now. The Blue Buddha remains, and is a fantastic place to find an unusual gift for an open-minded friend or to discover the fun that can be had in the world of the occult. The service here is of an absolutely top-notch level and in my experience the staff regularly go out of their way to educate and help customers. It’s been a while since I last had a reading done there but I have it on good authority from my wife that her reading there proved to be accurate. This place is well worth a look, as you never know what you’ll find inside.

Hidden inside an arcade just off High Street mall in Fremantle, The Blue Budha is kind of like my secret hiding place. As soon as I enter the arcade I already feel a sense of calm superseding any nervous tension that I might be feeling. And that’s all part of the The Blue Budha’s mission. An esoteric one-stop-shop for those looking for spiritual enlightenment, incense or aromatherapy, tarot or clairvoyant readings, individually designed and handcrafted semi-precious gem stones and crystals, this shop always delights the senses and relaxes even the most tightly wound worry-warts. Having been a skeptical when it comes to new age fads, after my first visit to The Blue Budha and a chat with the highly knowledgeable staff there, I’ve found myself a recent convert. I’ve purchased a few crystals on a number of occasions after guidance from the staff who also treat you like an old friend, and greatly appreciated their help(which they’ll only too happily provide even if you’re not purchasing anything!). Although I’ve found a lot of their jewellery to be incredibly pricey, they also have a few more affordable options. I recommend getting one of their gemstones and putting it in a spiral cage, then getting the staff to attach it to a leather strap. I think I paid around $ 15 for this, and they make excellent gifts! My favourite part about the place has got to be their extensive range of incense. Not the cheapest in Fremantle, but definitely the greatest range.
