This place is a god send! I found a brilliant website that I use to order jewellary parts but they didn’t have the full range I needed. Then one day I wandered in here for a look around and discovered loads of things I was missing! It is much nicer to be able to hold and see what I am buying too, rather than doing it online. It is also very cheap which is always a bonus. The only downside I can think of was that the girl working there wasn’t overly knowledgable about the stock, nor was she very happy but maybe she was just having a bad day! Love the place regardless.

It was with much trepidation that I entered this store. I slowly slunk in and tried to not draw too much attention to myself. However, my cunning technique was inherently flawed in the open plan area that is the Bead Post. I was curious to find out about the whole beading thing but thought the shop assistant would probably be able to tell I repel all things small and sparkly that are intricate and need to be sewn, stuck or banded together in some fashion. I thought she might be a bit clairvoyant and be able to pick up on the sequined headband fiasco of the late 80s. Turned out she wasn’t clairvoyant in the slightest and simply beamed at me in an encouraging way and asked if I needed any help. So I was left to my own devices in the bead wonderland. Wow. What a lot, what a very great lot of beads. Heaps. Towering above me and invitingly staring up at me from below my eye line. Hmm. The sparkly little critters did look inviting. I was trying to talk myself out of making a stupid purchase I would most likely never use when I noticed I could create my new jewellery in the comfort of the Bead Post. Hmmm, very interesting and slightly enticing. At least if I decided to buy some bright beads and make my shiny new object there and then, I’d get it done. But I still felt a tad overwhelmed by the often complex and convoluted skill that is beading. For another day, I thought. When I’m in an intricate and patient mood, I will return.

When I first discovered this place I was pretty excited about the whole, DIY thing. I mean I love one of a kind pieces or home made jewellery and well I guess this place is both of those things, better still you pick it all yourself! The lady working when I went in last was so helpful, I heard her helping a little girl who was upset about something, and the little girl ended up walking out with a pretty pink necklace and a big smile on her face!

If you are a girl you can probably remember a Christmas or birthday when your parents bought you a «make your own jewelry kit» and it was the most exciting thing ever, filled with so many bright beads and strings! And then you weren’t so good and instead of creating amazing necklaces and bracelets that everyone in the neighbourhood would want to buy, you actually ended up with bits of string all over your room and finding yourself stepping on stray pieces of beads all over the house and your parents cursing the day they bought it for you. Or maybe that was just me. Well the crew at The Bead Post have taken that idea and cleaned it up a little. It is a cool, quirky store next to the post office in the awesome brick building and is filled with beads from the floor to its high ceilings. You can buy some awesome designs that are on display or use that as mere inspiration for your own creation. You can select your beads and make exactly what you are envisioning in your mind but not finding anywhere and be content spending an age perfecting your work. If you find yourself getting a bit lost, and flashbacks to the«make your own jewelry kit» and the pain as you stood on some round plastic start occurring, then one of the friendly staff are more than happy to give you a hand. It’s always nice to own a piece of jewelry that has some kind of story or meaning to it, and creating something yourself just makes it that extra special, and if you give it as a gift, even more special for a friend.

Bead post is a bower birds dream! This is a super cool, bead ridden store– with a velvet chair out the front casually placed in front of some gorgeous threaded beads on display–«insert yourself here!» The selection is nothing short of mind boggling and even someone not really into beads, creativity, or colour could find something of interest– the plain felt bead threading matt perhaps? The girl at the counter was a sprite-ly bead enthusiast who wore her creations with pride. I did feel slight bead envy before I took to my own creation. After selecting the lucky beads, then situating myself in a quite but energized space I set to work– beading is a game for the patient. If you are in a rush and you are attracted to «almost impossible to thread» beads– this is not the place for you, but come back to it. Great colours, happy creative vibes and– very wearable creations. The price is right on the money(varies with the selection but the prices are fair) The world of beads just became an even more beautiful place with this little addition!

What a great idea for a shop — you go in, wander the big, spacious room perusing all the hundreds of pots full of beads lining the walls, choose the ones you want, take them to the table in the centre and use the equipment and tools that are available to create your very own jewellery. Splendid! All you pay for are the materials you’ve used. It’s such a cool idea, I only wish I’d thought of it first. If you don’t feel like making your own jewellery, there are some ready-made pieces on offer as well, with some particularly cute earrings at the back of the shop. The staff are all friendly and make you feel welcome even if you just want to wander around staring wide-eyed at all the sparkly beads. They do jewellery making classes and kids’ workshops too, so they cater to all your jewellery making needs.
