Finding a hotel in Perth always seems to be a mission. While most cities I travel to I have my established favourites by now, Perth has been elusive. Until now. Platinum Suites in Freemantle really does tick all the boxes for me, so if you’re willing to venture out of Perth’s CBD and sport for the $ 70 taxi ride out there from the airport(yes. $ 70.) you will be richly rewarded. First off you’ll be greeted by Vicki the host, who is extremely friendly and accommodating. The interior is absolutely stunning — I must have taken 30 photos of the whale-spine staircase alone — and my massive room on the top floor was so comfortable I didn’t want to leave. Freo has a free bus you can hop on, and the CBD is a $ 5 train ride away. Breakfast in the morning was also fantastic with a beautiful spread and the wifi was free, fast and reliable. For $ 250/night, this is unbeatable value in this area and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind staying a little further out. Pft, who needs the CBD anyway?
