Been eating here for 7 years and the ramen prices have only gone up once by 90c! Always delicious and worth the wait, although now we’re pretty good at telling what time to go and not having to wait too long: p I always get #6 chicken karage with soy base. Sometimes the takoyaki too! The whole family loves this small authentic Japanese place

OK so you go to Dosukoi with a plan. This is not your walk in Wagamama sit down, look at the menu, place an order, wait for ten minutes to be served kinda joint, no. You go to Dosukoi anticipating that you’ll have to wait anywhere between 20 – 60 minutes before you can even get seated. You place your order & pay up front, & when there are seats available, they send you an sms telling you to come back to the shop to get served. I have a long list of messages from Dosukoi. But enough about the system. The food here is excellent, straight from the streets of Japan. The soup is full of flavour, and the noodles are cooked just right(They even discourage you from ordering takeaway because the noodles will get too soggy then). Their takoyaki is not too starchy like most places, and you can really taste how fresh the octopus in it is. The fried chicken on the menu is very unassuming, but do yourself a favour & never forget to order it. I don’t know how they do it, but I can’t often describe fried chicken as being creamy in your mouth. Trust me, it’s a good thing. I highly recommend the spicy leek ramen, with a cup of fried chicken separate so it doesn’t go soggy in the soup. On the bright side, they’re now open on weekdays in the city too!

Cue«Gonna Fly now»(Rocky’s theme song) and start throwing some ‘bows(elbows that is)… This place is mad crazy! You better want some udon noodles in a bad way to make this experience worth it. Or, should I say the udon noodles makes this bad experience worth it!?! Probably the latter. Another quality stall in the Fremantle market outgrowing their britches. Such an unfortunate experience, as their food was mighty tasty. I had the fried chicken which was well-worth the $ 5 and knocks-out KFC any day of the week. I sampled my friends prawn/udon soup which was delish too. Diners beware, treat this place as a takeaway that can wait(i.e. «don’t be ravenous as Lynn M. states»). Dosukoi lacks the real-estate for a dining-in experience and their wait-times can be killa-kill if you’re starving.

After a few too many espresso martinis the night before I was in need of a salty, savoury, carb loaded meal for my lunch yesterday. I thought the 10 person line at Dosukoi had to be a good sign, so I joined the throng of people. My dining companion nabbed the last 2 chairs in the place(there are only 9 in total) but when I came to order I was asked if I wanted to join the wait-list to eat in, of which was an hour wait. What!!! I wouldn’t have minded so much if there was other seats around but our only other option was a street beach, not ideal for slurping back a bowl of slippery soba noodles. The delicious food well and truly made up for the seating situation. I had the tempura prawns with noodles and it was just perfect. Plus for $ 8.50 you don’t really get any better value than that either.

I’m a massive ramen fan, I love the combination of flavours, slurp and carbs. I think its their unassuming nature, branding and seating area that makes this place feel even more genuine. It is the taste of Japan in a bowl. The size of the restaurant can also be its downfall because if it is ramen you are looking for then you can’t exactly take-away. They will take your number and text you when a seat comes free so you aren’t standing around watching people eat but make sure you aren’t ravenous. They do other Japanese food here too and the dumplings are great but its definitely worth coming here just for the ramen.
