I have been to Breaks so many times over the years, it is one of my all time favourite breakfast joints. The place is deceptive from the outside and doesn’t look like much but I implore you to look beyond the bland exterior with it’s cracked glass and to go inside. The feel of the location is very starving artist with their band posters and beauty striped cushions and light coloured woods. Don’t be deceived… sit down… order a coffee and kick back. My favourite dish to have that I continually fail to go past is the breakfast bruschetta. Crispy bacon, crumbled feta, diced tomatoes, fresh basil and the ever delicious balsamic glaze. YUMYUMYUM. Give it a go. You won’t be sorry.

Lovely little Café. Had breakfast there based on reviews and was not disappointed. It might not look like much from the outside, but the food is delicious and the staff super friendly.

I really enjoy sitting outside for brunch at breaks. The food is better than average and the prices are lower than what I’ve seen elsewhere in Fremantle for breakfast. Eggs, toast, bacon, and a cappuccino was $ 17. I really like their caps and espresso, they do take pride in how they make the coffees, just be prepared to wait an extra minute or two as the service can be a tad slow. Charles.

Yes! We stumbled across this little piece of hipster heaven when we were on the hunt for all day brekkie on a Saturday afternoon(might I add, this is so freakin hard to come by in this town)! So we ordered and ate and left around 3pm-ish, full and content. The breakfast menu is just what I like to see; many options and good sizes. The layout reminds me of my old Melbourne hangouts(think Brunswick Street) and this I liked.

It was a recommendation from a Freo local who told me, «if you like full breakfast you must go there». Located on high street tucked away from the Fremantle touristy hustle and bustle strip, Breaks is a funky and quirky café in a really old building. Went on a Sunday morning and surprisingly wasn’t busy. Quick service and coffee was awesome! My full breakkie came with 2 eggs, bacon, grilled tomato, grilled mushrooms, toast, hash brown and beans. Managed to power through all of it, it was delicious! I am not a vegetarian but I want to try their full vegetarian breakfast next time, looked amazing! Looking forward to go back!

Wow, $ 6 for two huge slices of fruit and nut toast with cinnamon butter. Nice coffee, really interesting menu, but could do with a few fans to offset the heat inside. All day brekky and lovely service.

I really enjoyed Breaks Café — it’s nestled amongst shops and other cafes on High Street, and has a very eclectic vibe. It was fairly quiet when I went in but it was 9:00 on a Thursday morning. I ordered the three egg omelette and it was amazing! Fluffy, packed full of flavour and a very generous serving. Complete with lots of chunky chorizo slices and spinach pieces, it had a lot of substance and texture. I also tried some of the Canadian French toast — and that was something special. The French toast itself wasn’t as fluffy and light as I was hoping for, but the combination of ice cream wrapped in bacon, maple syrup and thick toast was incredible! I only had a few bites but I think it would be worth a trip back for. The service was okay, but nothing special. Staff were pleasant enough but not overly personable, and service was efficient and quick. Reasonable prices, a good location that’s slightly off the main strip and usually a little quieter and most importantly, a really interesting and inventive breakfast menu — I am pretty sold! It’s nice to see a place serving something other than just eggs on toast!

Canadian French Toast. THICK slices of bread, soaked in egg, served up with bacon, syrup, ice cream and berry jam. Got your attention yet? Well it sure got mine. Twice. In a week. I’ve also had the relatively safe garlic prawns & it was also pretty good. Comfy setting, good music, and friendly staff all add up to making this place a very pleasant dining experience.

Great little quiet place that my wife and I grabbed breakfast before the ANZAC parade. We dined on toast and eggs for my wife and eggs salmontine(salmon & eggs benedict) or myself. The food was excellent and very filling. Only thing for us was the toast was a bit thick, but I am sure that is what made it so filling. I also had a long black coffee which was very strong and very good. Great little place and highly recommended. The wait staff was very friendly.

Yet another breakfast joint in Freo serving up delicious morning goodies to those of us that do or don’t deserve it. Their full vegetarian breakfast is quite a monster and includes avocado, the best addition to breakfast as it works as a great spread. For later in the day, the burgers are great value(all with GF options) especially the scotch fillet(breaks burger). When I’m feeling in need of an ego-boost and a sugar fix, the pancake stack is good too.

The first thing I have to say about Breaks is that the freshly squeezed juice is divine. With plenty of fruits on offer, you can choose up to four blended together for a much lower price than most places that do fresh juices — only $ 5.50. My favourite is lemon, orange and ginger — it is so, so, SO good, I could drink it all day long. The café has a chilled out, slightly backpacker-ish vibe, and is a great place for breakfast or brunch. They do dinner too, with some delicious Asian-fusion style dishes on the menu. The burgers deserve a special mention — I had a really scrumptious spiced snapper burger, which was huge, delicious and messy. It fell apart all over the place(probably due to my messy eating) but it was worth it. It was meaty and good. With occasional live music, free wi-fi and plenty of trashy magazines to peruse over coffee, I would definitely recommend this place as a great pitstop on a lazy weekend.
