Description

History

Established in 2014.

720 frames on display. Any frame with single vision lenses $ 149.

«We manufacture glasses from any prescription. In the past generally people felt obliged to buy the glasses from the optometrist that tested them. Often they couldn’t afford to buy their glasses and their vision suffered,» said Mr Makadia. «It is a misconception that you have to buy your glasses from the optometrist that tested you.»

Spectacle Warehouse Australia sells frames and lenses at low prices.

«Everything is Australian made and we use the best technology available through any optical chain. We use German designed lenses that are manufactured in Australia, and have taken the competition out of choosing glasses. By having set prices you can choose any frame and single vision lens, which includes scratch resistant treatment for just $ 149,» said Mr Makadia. «You can upgrade to bifocal for an additional $ 50 or multifocal for only $ 100»

Spectacle Warehouse Australia stocks designer brands including Calvin Klein, Diesel

Meet the Business Owner

Dheeran M.

Business Owner

My name is Dheeran Makadia and I am an optometrist who has recently opened a new full scope independent optometry practice at 44 Wells Street (opposite the cinema and next to ANZ bank). The practice is called Spectacle Warehouse Australia. We are here to provide the local community clinical help and advice and provide affordable glasses. Our prices are 20−30% lower than any other retailer.

I qualified as an optometrist in 2004 from Aston University, Birmingham, UK. I then worked within high street practice for 7 years. In 2011 my wife and I moved to Melbourne and I was the director of Specsavers Little Collins Street. This was one of the first ever Specsavers in Australia. I am now the optometrist director of Spectacle Warehouse Australia.

My particular interests are dry eyes; corneal issues and diabetic retinopathy. I also have interests in headaches and migraines. I also work closely with Southern Eye Centre referring and communicating with the local ophthalmologists.
