Reverends is a little slice of heaven, not only can you get the very best coffees made with extremely talented baristas, giving me latte art along the lines of three swans making out in a cup and just swimming their way to my caffeinated bliss. But you also get some god damn banging food, the only problem with the menu is that I can’t stop eating it, God do yourself a favour once you go to reverends get a gym membership, because you’ll be eating delicious food to the point of plump perfection. Also the staff are super friendly to their customers, always ready to chat and educate. Sweet digs bros.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Firstly, I was ignored by all the staff for 20 minutes even though they had seen me and told me it was table service. Eventually I was served but not very politely either. The woman with blonde hair was incredibly insouciant and at one point even made a sighing sound at a female customer which I couldn’t believe. I ordered the avocado and almonds on toast. It was ok. It really lacked so much flavour. But this wasn’t my issue. The problem started when I investigated the plate and noticed that although the eggs were poached perfectly they had left all the water on the plate which made the entire breakfast soggy beyond belief. Would it be so difficult to drain the water !? The coffee came out cold as well. Very disappointing.

I checked out this place based on good Unilocal review, sadly it didn’t live up to my expectations. Had the smashed avocado — compare my photo to the one posted by another reviewer a year ago… Standards gone down???

The single origin coffee is really good. Ham bagel also great. This café could arguably be one of the best places in Brisbane and right up there will top cafes in Sydney and Melbourne. Prices also very reasonable compared to other capital cities. Gave it 4⁄5 stars because service was pretty slow.

Sunday brekky here after shows on the weekend. One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. Great simple food done with love, fresh ingredients and the coffee is great too. I had the breakfast bowl: poached eggs, sweet potato, pea shoots, spinach, avocado and butter beans, with a side of their in house glazed ham and gluten free toast. So awesome! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because service was a little slow and the waitress forgot our coffee. But I’ll be coming back.

BigSound Music Conference just happened in Brisbane and as anyone knows, conferences mean meetings– lots and lots of meetings. Everywhere was super packed around the Judith Wright Centre so Reverends was the slightly more chilled out spot to hang. Firstly– incredibly impressed with the coffee! Absolutely outstanding! My iced latte was creamy and deliciously packed with caffeine excellence, I also had their Ham Bagel as a snack and was delighted to find that the ham was real, thick and obviously off the bone– not crappy packet ham. The staff were also really friends and attentive which was nice! The only downer for me was that, if you sit on the benches out the back along the side wall you might be asked to stand up momentarily by staff as they keep extra supplies underneath them. Otherwise awesome!

This is one of the best coffee shops I’ve been to period(and I’ve been to many!). The coffee and baked goods are superb and the atmosphere is perfect. I go there and work in the middle of the day occasionally.

Took us 20 minutes to get a coffee. The barista said he couldn’t do an aeropress after saying he would because he didn’t have a «recipe». Not sure what an aeropress recipe is. I think it’s an excuse not to do your job when you’re hung over.

Coffee Roaster: Uncle Joe’s Coffee. Coffee Origin: Ethiopia(Purple Haze) Tasted as: Long black. Personal taste: Great afternoon coffee to help relax and unwind. It’s very much like a good bottle of wine, savor every note. One of my favorite coffees from one of the most exciting roasters.

Tossed up between giving this place 3 or 4 stars, but I settled on 3 for a reason. Despite the coffee being quite good and the bagel nice, this place gets so so hot it’s ridiculous which makes the dining experience a tad uncomfortable(and it wasn’t even that hot today). While the service was okay, it was more just«do your own thing and we’ll eventually get to you…» We had to find our own table(it was busy so quite difficult) and then we sat there for a good 15 minutes before getting menus… once we got the menus we then waited another 20 or so minutes before being served. I wouldn’t say that it was overly busy so I should have expected to wait… It’s really not that hard to greet someone and then at least give them some menus… The good thing was they were quick with the coffees once we’d ordered so that relieved the tension as I’m not one to like waiting 45 minutes for a coffee… The staff were relatively friendly — nothing exceptional but not bad. The bagel was nice and filling. I’d probably go back again so suss things out and sit in a different spot — hoping I wouldn’t die from the heat(I think it was partly because the coffee machine was near us and so the general heat from that was a bit too much…) I wouldn’t class it as a favourite but the vibe was good :) I’d probably pop in for a takeaway coffee if there was a next time :)

Great staff, lovely shop with really good coffee. Having tried quite a few coffee shops in the area this would be my go-to. Upside is they have large size cups… which is always a plus.

I adore coffee geeks. Seeking them out everywhere I go, I appreciate few things more than spending time at a gorgeous café where people care about their product. Reverends has this in spades. Offering a short but considered breakfast menu and lovely coffee, this was a great place to enjoy breakfast with friends. Service was a tad slow and I am not really a fan of getting my coffee at the same time as my breakfast, but in fairness there was a lot of us to serve. Not being a Brisbane local, I wasn’t familiar with Uncle Joe’s coffee but I am digging it. Ordering both of the beans on offer for filter that day, I was really impressed with both. Two delicious, bright and juicy coffees made just right. I could have happily stayed longer and nerded out with the baristas had I gone on my own. I was looking forward to checking out Brisbane’s coffee scene and this place didn’t disappoint.

I had a meeting at Reverends yesterday and it had been, admittedly, a long time between drinks. There’s a swanky new menu of breakfast and lunch options and a new layout for ordering. Having just come from a Pilates class, I was feeling a little peckish and was thankful for the new menu. I perused and decided upon the poached eggs with sautéed kale and tomato on a slice of vienna with goats cheese. I resent the price for breakfast sometimes but this is one meal I was glad to pay the $ 14 for. Vibrant green kale popped from the plate as it was delivered to my table and it was perfectly crunchy, the eggs not hard but not runny — the best kind of poach — and the goats cheese spread on the slices of vienna loaf was the kick of flavour that tied the whole dish together. Paired with an iced coffee($ 5) and I was set for the day for under $ 20.

I’ve been meaning to get into Reverends, as I’m trying to lead a boycott against LTD. I like coffee but I’m no expert. And I like that when I don’t seem like I know what I want, Reverends are happy to explain the difference between washed and natural beans. There are no pompous wankers at Reverends, just polite hipsters. Reverends seem to be trying Sunday trading, and I am glad they are. I went in for the coffee and really impressed with the taste of my pour over(I can’t recall the method, but I picked up it was like a V60, with a wavey paper and a flat bottom). My Bagel Boys bagel was amazing — the best tomato relish I’ve ever had. The poor barista and waiter did not seem to be able to cope with a Sunday crowd. They seemed to struggle with the numbers that were rolling in, with their«table of 8 please?» and«where can I put my pram?». This put them off their game — getting orders wrong and overcharging. We get the look you are going for guys — but you have to be able to deal with the«non-regulars» as well. I’m definitely going to go back on a weekday morning and make myself a non-pram-toting-regular.

Fast and friendly service. Had a standard flat white and Bircher muesli. Coffee was great and the muesli was fantastic. Recommended.

Trying to find Barista’s who can read your mind? Cold pressed coffee fan? Perhaps a skinny Cappuccino? Interested in the new aeropress? All whilst working up an appetite? Look no further! If you’ve ever been to the valley then you’ve been past Reverends. This is a venue where your culinary thoughts will be read and your tastes satisfied!

I am a sucker for passionate baristas, edgy café food and crumbly red brick — so this little spot on Brunswick St has won my heart. Our food was tasty and delicious, the service was quick and informative, the surroundings were comforting and inspiring, and the coffee was strong and flavoursome.

Today was my first time at Reverends and I was holding it in high standard because of my great experience at Ltd yesterday. I absolutely love the store’s décor — exposed brick, various bits of coffee making paraphenalia scattered around, and a record player with vinyl in the corner. Very nice. I was greeted quickly and my order taken swifly, but unfortunately that’s where the speediness ended. It’s not like it took 20 minutes to get my take away coffee made, but it was long enough to make me feel uncomfortable standing around waiting for it. They were busy, but not super busy. They just seem like the kind of people who don’t rush things, so fair enough. The coffee itself was good, though not great. Similar to Ltd, I enjoyed being able to drink my coffee at a comfortable temperature. The coffee itself lacked the same enjoyable taste though and I’d merely describe it as ‘doing the job’. I would return to Reverends if someone asked me to come along, but with a better coffee shop only two doors down I’d be more likely to go there.

I visited Reverends for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Just to emphasise the brilliance of this place it’s vital that you know i’ve been infamously dubbed a ‘coffee snob’ and refuse to get coffee from all but about 5 places in Brisbane. Reverends — picture exposed brick walls, a cool dark space, a passionate barista brewing your coffee whilst getting carried away in the tunes played by the store’s record player… The place is a treat. And the coffee? Consistently great. Please, do yourself a favour and check it out for yourself.
