My sister and I used to have our catch-ups at Hubs every few weeks. Our experiences service-wise have been pretty mixed. Generally the service is great however once we were totally rushed through our lunch, the waitress even tried taking our plates when we still eating. The food is really consistent, it’s not traditional or anything, but it’s fresh and tasty. Its got a pretty good location, at that awkward spot halfway between the City and Valley, where you can’t decide if you want to trek either way, so you just settle with Hubs. *Can get busy with office workersduring weekday lunch hours.

In a bit of a regular here, as my fella lives two short blocks away & he has the smallest kitchen known to man kind, meaning takeaway is almost always the best option. This place has a huuuuge menu, including two FULLPAGES of vegetarian options(unheard of!). They’re super lovely about customising your meal to make it vegan or to add a range of tasty extras(I’m into the fake meats myself!). My fave meals here are the stir fry noodle dishes, especially the veggie«chocolate towel»(note: not the real name of the meal, but we’ve called it that so often, I can’t remember the real name!) and the veggie dim sims — deep fried baby — for an entrée. I do wish some of their meals packed a bit more punch, though. The laksa is mostly noodle +mostly chilli-free, and I’m yet to find that magic meal that makes me rave about them. It is a big menu, though, so hopefully a new favourite is in there somewhere . Aside from that, it’s pretty all round great, and I’ve definitely never had a bad meal. The food always comes out quick sticks, faster than it takes to rent an Oovie from across the road, and we’re always served by a gaggle of lovely, smiling faces. So delve into the menu +enjoy!

I tried this place out the other day and I have to say that I wasn’t too impressed but definitely not disappointed. Located just far enough from Brunswick St Mall to not be too crowded, this place seems to generally cater for the business in the area. Hub’s Wok serves Asian cuisines, closest to Thai or Vietnamese. However, the food does lack the full flavours that other similar places have. Probably just their way to accommodate the mainstream palate that may not be able to handle the full force of spices and chilli. Still, it’s not bad for the price and it gets the job done.
